awesome. have been to flying fish a couple of times now, and i love it!
first let me just say- while ff is listed under "cheap eats" (under $10), i'd be safe and bring $13 or $14, unless you're not a big eater.
the catfish fillets are pretty fresh, and i always like to "make it snappy", an option available to add cayenne pepper to your fillets. my catfish has always been perfectly cooked, not mushy and not too hard, and seasoned well. the fries and hushpuppies are great too. nothing i've had here has been very greasy, maybe that's due to the peanut oil they use for deep frying. my friend is a big fried oyster fan, and he thinks quite highly of ff's fried oysters. i don't think that me or my friends have ever had a complaint with the food here. it's quite filling, too.
the atmosphere is also pretty welcoming and interesting; i hope to get one of my pictures on the "liar's wall" one day. there are no servers; you order at a window then you just sit and wait for your order then go pick it up, drinks are self-serve as well. all in all, there's a fun eating experience to be had at the flying fish. if you go, don't be turned away by the crowd, the line moves a lot faster than you would think and the food is ready in no time. give it a try!
