don't let the interior or location fool you this is first-class seafood, excellent, fresh and well executed. we had surf & turf with mahi & coconut shrimp. the seared ahi appetizer was the best we've had... ever!

i had the seared wasabi ahi tuna and the wahoo special and both dishes were fantastic. i also tried my friend's shark taco as well and it had a lot of flavor. sharon our server provided excellent service. my group went during lunch so it wasn't crowded but i recommend a reservation for dinner since there is limited seating.

i had the ahi sandwich, it was super! wife had the mahi sandwich, she loved it! the kids meals were $10, a little pricey. they were really busy, service was a little slow, but that should be expected on a holiday weekend. would definitely go back!

the food is great and very well presented. but it’s extremely over priced - like many things in cocoa beach. with tip, two entrees plus one dessert and a drink each came to $110. you can get better value for the same quality of seafood, with a little less of the fancy presentation, at other places nearby. we had the blackened mahi mahi and the seared ahi tuna. both tasted great and were fresh. most of the service was very friendly apart from the older guy who seemed to be pretty annoyed that we dared to want to sit outside.

just wish i lived closer. food and service was great. the only problem was the overcrowded seating. for two we lucked into a side table but we had to squeeze past other dinners to get to our table.

i love this place! my only regret is not having come here in earlier visits! make a reservation. the blackened mahi with spicy black beans, coconut rice, pineapple slaw, and veggies was wonderful! will try something different next visit, but this place is incredible! the black bean hummus and chips they served upon arrival was excellent. the blackened fish treatment was great! i want to try the fried pineapple upside cake! they even served a favorite red wine of mine, dave mathews' dreaming tree red blend!

i took my husband there for his birthday dinner today. they brought complimentary chips with black bean hummus for a starter. we ordered coconut shrimp for appetizer and the surf and turf (we chose filet mignon and shark) as our dinner choice.  we do not always do dessert but we ordered a  slice of deep fried pineapple upside cake because it was his birthday.  the food was nothing short of amazing! the steak so tender and flavorable and the shark so flavorable.  the sides were cooked perfectly. needless to say, we took half of our dinners home because we were so full. we seriously cannot wait to go back. the waitresses were both really nice. the only reason i am giving them a 4.5 vs a 5.0 is because a large party came and it became very cramped quick. we felt like we needed to leave to allow more room.

literally perfection. you need a reservation because there is very limited seating but it adds to the exclusivity and ambiance. the food was exquisite. i had the surf and turf with a filet minion and a shark steak which literally melted in my mouth. the portions were perfectly sized. this is a restaurant i will dream about for years to come!

don't come here unless you have a reservation. told us when we arrived that they were unable to serve us tonight as it was full for the night. when we arrived, there was an empty table but i assume it was reserved. it was 7:15 when we arrived.

great- definitely lived up to the reputation. the seared ahi tuna just melted in your mouth. the service was outstanding. we were lucky to snatch a seat at the bar for dinner, so i recommend a reservation. don't miss it if you are a seafood fan.

incredible food...it's small so call ahead for reservations...called at 5:10 and they were wide open for 5:30 opening. got reservations...when we walked in at 5:33, place was full, but our table was secured, only one left.

hidden gem. stopped in for a late lunch. pleasantly surprised. they brought us some chips with black bean hummus for a starter. as soon as we tasted it we knew we had found a hidden gem. as we watched the food coming out of the kitchen, it was difficult to choose as everything looked fantastic. we had the calamari, fish tacos and the blue cheese burger. everything was fresh and inventive. too full for desert, but the fried pineapple upside down cake looked fantastic.

thanks christina. last night i was sitting around watching the florida state - notre dame football game and i see a post come through on my facebook page. it was christina who was thanking me for for a recommendation of the fat snook where she was dining. i am not sure how many people read my ramblings but if just one good client and friend enjoys a meal at a great restaurant because of a blog by golly i am going to keep writing!

a couple weeks back we made the journey from jupiter to the space coast with great friends to enjoy a weekend on the water in celebration of my better half's birthday. we jokingly called the long weekend "gastrofest" as we had planned some special meals at our favorite spots in the space coast area. besides being my best friend and an all around great person my wife mixes a mean cocktail and knows how to spot good food from two hours away. our busy dining agenda had an open spot for lunch on friday and from afar she had spotted fat kahunas and it was there we found ourselves on friday, october 3rd. great beer selection (this is a beer and wine place so no margaritas!) and after aloha 'auinala's were exchanged cold drinks were on the way.

i am not sure how lisa found this special spot on the beach but am i glad she did as it is now going to be on our regular rotation. if you have ever been to hawaii you know well the meaning of "shaka" and that famous hand signal. no doubt fat kahunas earned a double shaka from this paradise shark. do not expect fancy as this is a crazy little shack with a hawaiian vibe just steps from the amazing beach. small and fun with a great staff but little parking so plan accordingly. wear your surf gear and get ready for some great food. really good food.

always inquisitive at a new place i often ask what i should have on my first visit to give me a felling for the food. i had already eyed the shrimp appetizers; both the coconut and garlic versions and they made the recommended list. when my friend chris was in for a "splitting" arrangement my choice was clear. another recommendation was the shark and those of you who follow me know i run a boutique real estate brokerage in palm beach county called paradise sharks real estate (insert shameless plug here) so that was of interest and two in our party opted for that highly recommended option. one in sandwich form the other in taco form. the presentation of both made this shark smile!

the garlic shrimp were amazing and i cannot wait to get back for another order. i mean the grilled vegetables, the presentation, the shrimp, the sauce everything about it was ultra delicious. lick your plate crazy kind of good. the coconut shrimp were equally delicious and one of the very best versions i have ever enjoyed and believe me i have enjoyed more than a few in my days. the owners spent years in hawaii and have transported the island spirit right smack dab in the middle of cocoa beach and have done a fine, fine job. the sauces are all tasty and home made and one can easily tell there is a whole bunch on aloha spewing from this place.

i would not hesitate to give fat kahunas 5 big stars based on my first visit and i promise there will be others in my future. the menu is on the small size but again it is clear a whole lot of love is put into each preparation. prices are not inexpensive but i have always been one who does not mind paying for a quality product and i got that in a big way at fat kahunas. it is just another spot i add to the "wow cocoa beach sure has a lot of great places to eat" list and if they aren't getting enough aloha up north please feel free to relocate south to jupiter.

a hui hou (that's until we meet again for you land lubbers)......

what a great find!. out to dinner with a friend and the restaurant we were going to was closed for vacation. we were directed by a passer by to the fat kahuna.. we would never have noticed it, and would have walked on by. we didn't have reservations but got 2 seats at the bar... from the homemade salsa, sangria, vegetable tempura, and mahi fish entrees, everything was fresh, presented beautifully and tasted amazing! my only regret is that i didn't have room for dessert. can't wait to go back!!
