bucolic bliss. what was meant to be a 4 course meal became 5 courses due to the generosity of the chefs here. we left thoroughly satisfied with the food and service. limited but sufficient wine menu. a communal table for 20 means more fun than being with the waltons!!!

the food itself is so nicely presented. the sitting area is different from other restaurant and it does provide such nice dining experience. the team is welcoming and prompt. this restaurant is defiantly worth a visit and can't wait for their new menu!

in the mist of the city meeting suburbia you will find a farmhouse which takes you away from the busy city for a few hours. with food that simple yet warming to the heart and wine to match you will wish it doesn't end.

farmhouse is a tiny restaurant on bayswater road in kings cross which resembles an urban barnhouse. the restaurant features a long communal table, slanted timber ceilings and bright exposed lights, and offers a simple four-course menu for two sittings at 6.30pm and 8.30pm. booking is necessary, so i believe the owners would search for my contact after this review 😆😆

food wasn't that bad, but it wasn't as polished as some fussy diners (like me) would like. the four-course dinner begins with a smorgasbord of entrees including juju's baguette (pretty hard!), chickpea falafel and pickles. the next course was an interesting but unimpressionable dish of blue swimmer crab, apple, corn and native lime. the main course comes next when the servers littered a series of dishes including the slowest roast beef & shitake, farmhouse mash, charred cucumbers and brussel sprouts, in front of me. the slow roast beef was soft, tender and delicious whereas the brussel sprouts and coleslaw were flavourful and my highlight of the evening. by the time when the desserts - peanut butter jelly and grapefruit cake - were served - most diners were full. i found the desserts to be intriguing but not palatable.

farmhouse is an intimate dining concept and service was friendly and impressive. i would probably remember the personable figures in the restaurant for many, many years. however, they would probably got to fix and work on a selection of dishes instead of a constantly revolving menu.

such a cute restaurant! love how the menu changes often, and all of the produce are seasonal. food was delicious, v homely. definitely a must try!
only reason i gave it a 4 instead of a 5 is because i’m a cocktail girl, and they only had wines and beers on offer. also could’ve done with some cushions on the outside seats.

wonderful concept and execution. you get menu of the day, or nothing (some dietary exceptions). unlike many highfalutin eateries, you get plenty to eat. wine list ok but doesn’t quite match the standard of the kitchen.

this delightful venue located in kingscross has an air of rustic charm. there is only enough seating at the trestle table for about 20 people so make sure you book in advance - the limited number of seats available i think really gives the feeling of a personal experience.

great little restaurant. really enjoyed the wine choices, the service and general vibe. the food was a compulsory set menu, which we enjoyed but i can see how certain people may prefer choices. i would recommend eating here, make sure to book ahead!

one of sydney's best places to eat. the whole dining experience was excellent, mood and food spot on. the cosy venue offers communal dining on a long table that flips up for a person to squeeze into. however it is the food that speaks volumes! i was hesitant to book in for a menu that is entirely chosen course by course by someone else, but you have to trust the chefs know what they are doing with this fixed menu. safe to say that they do in fact know because we want to go back asap. the attention to detail and flavour matching was spot on with high quality food. the menu is built on a mix of home-style food but with a modern high quality twist. the portions are huge but there isn't a downside to the quantity as staff offer to box up your leftovers so no guilt for wasting tasty food. highly recommend farmhouse for a date night, to night out with friends.

farmhouse was a wonderful recommendation that we tried out - a farm to table concept, with a menu that changes month-to-month. we were greeted by friendly staff and seated right in the center of the long wooden barn table. we started with a really delicious plate of baguettes and tiny cob loaf, with a pork filling and a spinach and cheese filling.  these were accompanied by delicious manchego croquettes.
the next dish was gorgeous spanner crab, native lime, roe and broth. the vegetarian option was made with mushrooms instead. this was a really light and flavoursome bowl, and a perfect palate cleanser to be honest.
next up for me was the roast lamb shoulder, onions, a pea and mint condiment, roasted vegetables, and potato mash. the vegetarian option featured charred broccoli which was the only disappointment of the night. the lamb was incredibly tender and flavoursome, and this is coming from someone that normally doesn't enjoy lamb. the vegetables were well seasoned and paired wonderfully with the condiment, mash and lamb.
the two desserts were wonderful starting with chocolate, hazelnut and beetroot which was such a delicious, slightly bitter and a little sweet. the beetroot is such an interesting addition to the dessert and definitely not to everyones taste. the final meal was the apple tart which tasted like an elevated apple pie with delicious cinnamon and warm spices.
overall the experience was really wonderful! i definitely recommend it, but i think it's a great experience if you don't have any dietary requirements - that way you can enjoy the menu as is!

booked earlier today and was told that the only table available was outside: was initially hesitant but we are so pleased we went.
mike/michael was such an amazing host: open minded, seeking feedback and he explained the menu in such detail (tonight was the 1st time it was being served: changed every fortnight) and guided us throughout the evening as courses were served......helped us carefully choose our wine too.
food was incredible. we have eaten in some very good places (here and at home in uk): this would compare with any of them based on the whole experience.
even when it came to deciding on which “dessert” wine to have with the puds, michael was so good in helping us make the right decision.
this restaurant is truly one of sydney’s best kept secrets: so pleased we have discovered it.

the massive mountain of mash was so delicious and the tangy taboulleh was a heavenly complement with the lamb. the mustard apricot also helped to cut the richness of the lamb
