tasty, smoky meats! we got the family meal, and it filled up the 7 of us, with a bit leftover. cons: they only take cash as payment, the bread was a loaf from a grocery store, and the place could be a bit cleaner. but the food (the meats and the cinnamony baked beans) was wonderful!

my #1 favorite bbq. when "gospel bbq" gave fargo's their highest rating "reconsider your honeymoon destination", i needed to see what the rave is all about.

so i drove down from dallas on a saturday afternoon.

the first thing you need to know-- fargo's is only for take-outs. because there is no place to be seated, due to the fact there are no tables.

i eagerly ordered. the man on the other side of the counter took my order. his smile and friendly demeanor was very inviting. in no time at all i had my bbq in tow and off to my top-less automobile.

the brisket and ribs were tender, moist and full of flavor. words can not describe my heavenly experience-- i can honestly say, it was definitely not of this world.

it was definitely worth the3 hour trip. i can't wait to return-- yesterday is not soon enough for me.

thank you gospel bbq for introducing fargo's.

#48 stop in our texas monthly 50 bbq challenge.

got a half-chicken whacked up into two quarters, baked mac & cheese, and corn-on-the-cob.

the chicken was good. it was a bit odd in that it was smoked but had a rotisserie rub so it is like a really good rotisserie chicken. and the slin was pretty crispy and extremely tasty.

the baked mac & cheese was also good and had a unique quality - it was baked. nice touch!

the corn-on-the-cob was alsp good.nice and sweet. kind of a surprise just before closing.

the staff was great.

the atmosphere is laid back. it was originally a western sizzlin, then a chinese place, and a buffet it has seen lots of remodeling but it is bbq now!

absolutely fantastic. great smoked turkey and the beans are amazing. the sliced brisket was second to none. maybe i have just watched house of cards too many times but this is exactly what i want in great bbq.

fine, smoked brisket. amazing baked beans (tastes like pie) good potato salad (heavy boiled egg). the sauce is 'old school' but good. sweet tea is pure hillbilly heroin.

good ribs, but .... we tried fargo's as we were passing through bryan on a saturday. when we pulled in, we agreed it has to be good because there were people everywhere. my husband ordered the ribs, and i ordered the brisket.

first the brisket. i got a half pound, and the flavor was good, but there was way too much fat - no lean meat at all in my order. the bbq sauce is definitely from a store bought bottle. they were out of baked beans, and i don't care much for red beans. the sides are limited, and i dare them to measure out 4 oz of anything on a scale in that little tiny cup. i'm not buying the servings are 4 oz.

next, the ribs. my husband ordered the half pound of ribs, and he got two very small, sad little ribs. he said the flavor was really good, but i mean, they weren't very big, and again, i'd challenge them to prove that the two ribs he got were half a pound. he said the potato salad was passable, and agreed about the bbq sauce. he went back and ordered another pound of ribs, so we could each have a couple because we were both still hungry (after pulling the fat off the brisket, it was a much smaller portion than it originally looked to be). he had to wait for 30 minutes to get the pound of ribs, but i will say it was worth it. they were big and meaty, and the pound gave us five ribs to share. we sat in the back of the car eating them because the interior was packed and others were waiting on tables. the rib flavor was great and i could see what the fuss was about.

but the service ... ugh! if the food was just ok, this place would definitely go under. the staff (which i think is probably mostly family members) are rude, no eye contact, no smiles, not a nice word to any of the patrons ... unless you are black. then their demeanor changes - they crack jokes, laugh, smile and chat. waiting 30 minutes for ribs was ridiculous. i'm sure they're doing their smoking in small batches, but why not just tell us that it was going to take that long??

overall, the second batch of ribs is the only reason this place is getting three stars from me - otherwise, the rudeness of the staff, the ridiculously small "half pound" of ribs, the fatty brisket and the bottled bbq sauce would have gotten at most two stars, and only because my husband said the first batch of ribs he got was good.

best in the area!. you pretty much know a place that has been around for a few years and is cash only is going to be good. when you add hours of 10 am to 7 pm your expectations go up. this place knows how to smoke meats. had the sausage and the brisket and both were outstanding. sauce is good too, however you really don't need too much as the meat has a great smoky flavor.

went in tonight about 10 minutes before 7, and there was only one person in line, and they still had all the meat choices. by the time i got my order at about 7 the line stretched from the counter to the door. i guess a lot of people decided to slip in before they closed. everyone was very nice, no rushing you out like many places do at closing, as i'm sure they wanted to get home.

even though my meal was closed up in styrofoam the smell of the smoked meat told me before i tried it that i had found a good place for 'cue.

there are a few tables, so you can eat it there but when i was there everyone was taking it to go. again they know what they are doing when it comes to cooking bbq, this is definitely a place you don't want to pass by when you are in the area. serious bbq, and they advertise on the wall that they do catering with some great pictures showing what you get.

had all the meats off the menu; awesome! no sauce required, brisket falling apart, ribs and chicken falling off the bone, sides homemade. great folks run the place. new favorite bbq! what else do we need to say?

one of the better places in bryan college station. i would recommend that you try ribs over brisket. note that the location is wrong it is now at the corner of mlk and texas which is about five blocks south where it's listed on map

much better than expected.. take out only.. i had had the the brisket. perfectly smoked. i aspire to be able to make bbq this good. the sauce is spot on too. i wouldn't change a thing. the only other place that has brisket this good is their sausage gets a 8/10. i think smitty's in lockhart bests them on that only. fargo's is moving to a new location by mid nov 2012, just 2 blocks south of where they are today, same side of the road.
