well, it was a fun night out. cheap and cheerful, as they say. ($144 for the food, between 6. plus $58 for booze. and a gazillion dollars for a regular popcorn and choctop.)

first stop! encasa the walk up to encasa from central station isn't scenic and the man admitted later that he felt like he had chosen the wrong place for a special valentine's dinner but rest assured, encasa has a cozy, intimate atmosphere that keeps you in deep conversation with your sweetheart. their valentine's menu, prepared with aphrodisiac ingredients! we had a chuckle or two over this.

delicious food, excellent service and buzzing! for a party of 10, we ordered a load of tapas and everything was yum! prawns, spanish tortilla, mushrooms, chorizo are only a snippet of what we ordered and was yum. only downfall is te pizza - then again why would you go to a spanish restaurant to eat pizza??! stik with what they do best. - you will not be disappointed!

we couldn’t help but get two serves of patatas bravas, fried potato with garlic mayonnaise, and spicy tomato salsa. golden chunks of potatoes, crispy on the outside and generously drizzled in garlic mayonnaise and spice tomato salsa – yum!

after a long stint away, you want to come home to what you know and love. new adventures and relationships can always be found, but for the lucky ones that have it, home is where the heart and soul are. after a long absence from encasa, it's amazing how easy it is just to slip comfortably back in to order a jug of sangria and the usuals on an as-always packed friday night

the pernod pasta is definitely a must-try at encasa. this is perhaps my favourite pasta, ever. its distinct cream sauce that comes for the pernod wine, completely surprises the palate with a sophisticated combination of king prawns and sundried tomatoes.

what a buzzing atmosphere and the staff were friendly, very busy but attentive. the food is delivered very quickly which is great. can highly recommend the lamb skewers and the garlic mushrooms from the tapas menu.

spanish food is fantastic for sharing, but it is not for the fainthearted because they use very strong flavours (especially garlic, if you hadn’t noticed already) and can be a bit overpriced compared to some other cuisines, but it’s a nice treat every once in awhile. encasa itself is very popular, so i would suggest making a booking, particularly if you’re in a large group.

good variety of food choice both spanish tapas and italian pizza and pasta. however most of the dishes taste average. don't know why it's always packed.

the food was terrific and so was the sangria! it was a beautiful night but the service was horrific. they don't allow you to sit and enjoy the company you are with. they didn't allow us to get the dessert we ordered because they 'needed' the table. don't think i would return if i knew i will be kicked out like that again.

this is a really cool and vibrant joint. the garlic mushroom and potato brava are delicious. you can be a bit rushed as it is always busy on the wedkend. the staff are very nice.

encasa is one of my fav places to eat in the city, mainly for its uniqueness of the food, its poor english speaking (and totally not exotic looking) waitresses and most importantly its price. so for those who have not discovered its delights, its situated in the not so upper class area of pitt street near the hostels. this is a great place for its tapas and my gosh! do they do a good tapas! gambas sevillanas - $13 (peeled king prawns in spicy tomato salsa) to start off we had the tomato salsa prawn tapas, well i personally am allergic to seafood (how untragic!) but according to dolly, the flavour in this was a bit bland and was not as good smelling as she may have hoped. i can second this cos my seafood allergic nose was barely able to smell the prawns. toledo - $18 (medium) chorizo • artichokes • roasted red capsicum • olives the next dish we were served was the toledo pizza, though quite small and a bit tough at the edges, it was very delicious and the chorizo can make anything

not the best but still yummy!. admittedly haven't been to that many spanish restaurants, of my experience this is the most affordable for the quality. even though it is pricey i have to say it's 'value for money' for spanish tapas (in the city anyway). don't come here in summer, they have no air con and it's a sweat-fest. used to come here for lunch cos tapas seemed larger!! but i think they're back to dinner sizes now :(
