20 minutes waiting time for a takeaway hot chocolate is not acceptable! we ordered two, oddly one was only luke warm while the other was far too hot to drink. perhaps the girls behind the counter should have ceased their gossiping and got on with their work

this is a very ordinary breakfast venue with quite ordinary food, quite ordinary coffee and one dish that is not - their "famous" mince on toast. it's so hard to find a good m on t that it needs to be preserved. and of course it needs to be ordinary bread - a reminder of times past - 50s-60s nz.
hopefully the elixir mince stays on the menu for many years to come.

this is the beeeeeeest place in new plymouth for a good breakie! i have tried their whole menu and every single meal is delish but the standout favourites of mine are their fried chicken waffles and their mince on toast! i wish they had an outlet in auckland! insane food!

this place has it all. good coffee, nice vibe and atmosphere and the food is awesome, i often switch between the mince on toast and the porridge. the coconut porridge is the best in new plymouth. served with candies nuts and plums. the team is super nice and chatty which bleeds good culture. in my eyes they have nailed it

conference platters is a separate skill and ability. it has to be light but nutritious and fresh. elixir cafe mastered it to perfection! we got a lot of comments about how good the food was at women beyond ordinary panel discussion at bdo taranaki. yumminess from elixir cafe. one of my favorite lunch spots. being a healthy eater feels good. love the choice of their fresh juices.

after walking out of another place because the service was horrible we found this lil place and my goodness, am i happy we did! the service was amazing and our waitress was super attentive! our drinks came out pretty much straight after we ordered them and the food followed not too long after! not to mention it was all so yummy! we will definitely be back next time we’re down again!!

went here for breakfast and left very happy! service was excellent and the food came out quick and was very good. would highly recommend this place.

the place looks clean and tidy. however, it was a bit chilly inside. the price of the food was reasonable. ordered the fish of the day and pork belly. i love the red cabbage on the pork dish. i think the food was good but not sensational. good staff and fast service.

middling. the food was well priced and came quickly, however i was a little disappointed with the famous mince on toast. i was expecting a rich savoury dish and was incredibly surprised to find it sickly sweet - and with no vegetables included in it. classic mot in my day always had a few carrots or parsnips chopped through it. we mentioned the sweetness to the team and we're told that their customers like it that way which is fair enough - however a warning/note on the menu would be in order if that's the case. i could only really eat about a quarter of it before being overwhelmed with the sweet taste.

the egg on top was perfectly poached - so thumbs up there.

in the naki again for another christmas catchup with my partners family. last time we were in new plymouth it was the good home for lunch. we'd recently been advised by friends in fielding to sample elixir as they'd had a good experience, love a little word of mouth.

we sat outside on the street to people watch. we were seen to promptly for drinks and lunch orders. i did notice on a few other reviews for elixir a few issues with the service, we certainly didn't have any issues with the service today.

my partner and i ordered the braised beef cheek with pumpkin gnocchi and the chicken curry. the beef cheek is a very generous portion for $20, i was most impressed. fall apart, perfectly cooked cheeks, gnocchi that could've been a bit more soft and pillowy resting in a pool of jus, scattered with some crisp and salty kale crisps. just yum!

the chicken curry i found a bit on the bland side, it does have a smooth texture and a nice coconut hit but could do with a bit more depth i felt. this was served with a mound of rice and, something i thought was a little strange, crispy noodles. i say substitute the crispy noodles for a herbacious salad full of mint, coriander and vietnamese basil or maybe a nice crispy rotti?

either way it was a pleasant lunch with generous portions and good service. i would definitely recommend to anyone passing through.

this is my usual catch-up spot with the np crew. recommend the banana, espresso, almond milk and oat smoothie. they have a great selection on the menu, and awesome bites to choose from in their cabinet section.

have had some good meals here and they do great coffee, but the service can be hit and miss just depends who you get, and when you're paying for a service and product i'd rather go somewhere with a warm welcome/friendly staff.

went today for lunch on waitangi day they charged an extra 15% which we expected however what we did not expect was to wait 35 minutes for our food !!! shocking service elixir especially considering the lack of customers you had..the room was only half full so you were definitely not busy.
