edgar's bakery

yummy!. i wonder what planet a person is from who would expect a business to continue their prices of ten (10) years ago! i would bet this person does not make the same salary as ten (10) years ago. this bakery/cafe is a beautiful place with the best atmosphere ever for browsing, dining, shopping. anyone knowledgeable of what is involved in this type business would know there will be crumbs and such during operating hours. does not mean the restaurant is dirty, means they are busy! i look forward to eating there next week when i am in birmingham plus bring to go food home.

awesome food and staff. i placed a special cake order with kristy for my husband's 80th birthday. when i picked it up, i was impressed to see every detail i requested had been honored. i enjoy having lunch at edgar's in addition to the bakery items. the food is fresh and delicious. the cakes nor the food are made ahead to set until someone needs a cake in a hurry. fresh is what edgar's is about. my favorite for lunch is pimento cheese (not your everyday pimento cheese) sandwich and the corn and crab soup! the store is beautiful inside with the display of gifts and bakery items which allows one to enjoy the atmosphere while eating lunch. i go in with a smile and receive one in return from all the staff. members of the staff will also answer my questions, again with a smile. one cannot ask for better service, food, and service than edgar's.

double check any orders you make!!!! we ordered a cake to pick up one day ahead of a birthday, we tryed to puck it up and they said it was to be picked on the next day. i showed up the next day, and they then said they had no order.... no cake can kill a birthday party....

ok, not as good as they used to be!!!. while this is still a good bakery, the prices have doubled on cakes for example in the last ten years, while the size of the cakes have shrunk about 25% also, in the old days (ten years ago) the staff was very knowledgeable and professional, a long way from the current bakeries where teenagers make up most of the staff and sometimes they don't even have anyone who can write on a cake.

needs a good cleaning. about two weeks ago i went to edgar's bakery for the first time. i got a couple of small strawberry items,forgot the name, that were very tasty. but while standing in line to pay i started looking around the bakery, especially the floor behind the counter. i could now believe how nasty the floor was. looked like the employees had a cake fight. also the tables and floor in the customer area was nasty also. i will give them another chance but if it is nasty like this the next time i go i will turn around and leave.

friendliest service. this edgar's location has the friendliest service. you love going there because it is obvious they appreciate their customers! great cake and great service!

breakfast. service is painfully slow. painfully. food is average. had the biscuit and gravy. it's tasted funny and not is a good way. too much herb going on in the gravy.

service is wonderful too!. my first review was moments ago....and i concentrated on the wonderful food. i should have complimented the outstanding service as well. super combination that brings you back again & again! adam helped me with my latest order and was terrific. he was knowledgeable, friendly, and efficient. edgar's has the "cream of the crop" in both the culinary offerings and customer service!

splendiferous!!!!. every single item i've purchased from edgar's is outstanding, and the best i've ever tasted! my extended family loves to see what we'll have from edgar's to add to our menu for get-togethers. and strawberry cake is always a given!

i love to give edgar's goodies for gifts too.....and every recipient has raved about their treat.

edgar's sets the standard that's for sure...yum!

great cuban sandwich and sides. awesome lemon bars.

love it!!. the taco soup and mariyn monroe sandwich was fantastic! i went thursday for lunch with my coworkers and absolutely loved it! sarah helped me at the counter and gave me some great suggestions. the caramel cupcake for dessert was definitely worth the trip!

stick to sweets.... the desserts are absolutely delicious and you can tell that they put all of their focus into their pastry work because the lunch items are horrible.

edgars is the best in birmingham!. edgars is amazing! they have the best cakes, they're vanilla frosting is absolutely amazing and they are beautifully decorated! it's worth going to the bakery just for the cake, but they also have delicious cookies and cinnamon rolls! edgars is my all time favorite indulgence!

we love this place! so much n fact that my 2 year old daughter starts yelling "cookie" everytime we pass. plus tyler is always a great help!

second-to-none!. i work in the area and visit this edgars location frequently. it's got a lot going for it: a helpful, enthusiastic staff (shout out to danielle for excellent customer service!), a wide variety of wholesome lunch options (try the healthy reuben wrap), and a gauntlet of consistently fresh, creatively flavored coffees.

but what really differentiates edgar's is the sprawling expanse of baked goods you'll find adjacent to the dining room. it's virtually impossible to leave the building without sampling something sweet -- be it a slice of their celebrated strawberry layer cake or an irresistably aromatic, soft-baked cookie (personal favorite: oatmeal raisin).

so while i'm still not sure who this "edgar" character is, i do know one thing: he ought to be subsidizing my gym membership.

strawberry cake. this was an amazing cake!! imagine, even the frosting was licked clean of the box!!!

edgar's is our go bakery for birthday cakes, petit fours, and lemon squares . this location has an outstanding hot breakfast. danielle was polite and cheerful at the register this morning.
