the summer garden venue of this restaurant is airy and overlooks the bosphorus. the tables are well spaced and the service is superior.
do try: the peking duck
it's the perfect blend of crisp, juicy and meaty and the pancakes are incredible.
no need for: the chinese salad
it's a bit too much spice and garlic. besides, when eating out here there's no need to pretend to be healthy. just go ahead and eat all the yummy things.
we also ate the spring rolls which were great. if you call ahead it may just be possible to have semi-fried semi-steamed meat dumplings which are the best and very authentic. it's not on the menu but these dumplings are extremely worth it.
as a main course we had vegetables, shrimps, noodles, egg fried rice, sweet and sour chicken, beef in black bean and chicken with cashew nuts. everything was up to the standard. the beef had a beautiful smoky taste and the shrimps were spicy. the sweet and sour chicken had just the right amount of crust and the sauce was balanced.
to round off the meal we ate lemon sorbet, ice cream and fried ice cream. the fried ice cream is a particular specialty so do make sure to try it.
the wine list offered at dragon is also excellent and a white sauvignon is the perfect companion to a chinese meal.
highly recommended for a change from usual haunts in istanbul.
