a cool place to eat. we ate in the springhouse tavern. it's in the basement, and lit by candlelight. the staff dresses in period-correct clothing. it's a very interesting place to eat, and the food is good too. in spite of the fact that the place was completely packed, our food came to us withing a matter of minutes.

excellent. had dinner tonight at dobbin and it was awesome. french onion soup best i ever had, and it has a surprise you will be delighted with. crab cakes were excellent. gingerbread and brownie deserts both outstanding. our waitress was outstanding. house is oldest in gettysburg with rich history including having been part of the underground railroad. highly recommend this restaurant on your gettysburg visit.

onion soup. when you go, make sure you start with the onion soup. their salads are very good too.

loved it! the tavern is the casual dining which is in the cellar. the food was great as was the service. it is a small space so i would definitely go early or check on reservations. we will definitely eat here again.

very cool restaurant. friendly staff. and the food! next time i'm in gettysburg, i'm making it a point to go back her. but make sure you make reservations, no matter the time of year!

loved this place! this part of the restaurant is down in the cellar so it's a little chilly perfect after being out in the heat all day and they have it themed so the servers are all dressed up and most of the lighting is just from wax candles sitting on your table! so it's a different experience but awesome! the food was even better i had the new york strip that was very well done! my fiancé had the ribs and he said they were great as well! and service was awesome our server kept right on top of things. think oat of all was a great experience!!!

best ribs around. we always eat in the basement tavern where the ribs are the meat eaters meal of choice. you can't get themin the the upstairs dining room and frankly the ambiance in the basement is just too cool to pass up. you will love everything about this place.

my mom and i went in the gift shop entrance near the parking lot. so we accidentally got a seat in the old root cellar area. i'm happy we did because it was a very relaxing and magical atmosphere. service was great and the waitress happily answered any historic questions we had on the menu. i was kind of sad that there were slim pickings for vegan dishes. luckily the soup special was minestrone and it was delicious.
