the dino still reigns supreme. now becoming not only a national brand, but a foodie destination. the syracuse location was featured in man vs food, harlem upstart recently on food network star. new locations are opening up all over the east coast.

is it that good? yes. pulled pork, ribs, chicken, beer are consistently awesome. the sauce is boss. the sides are unexpectedly great. the biggest surprise are the chicken wings- i don't think they're fried at all but smoked and charred. the hoisin bbq is the best wing i've ever had that was not classic buffalo-style. the atmosphere is legendary. they don't give a damn if you don't care for it.

this is the original dino and is still the best.

wow. this was as good as people made it out to be. dishes we got include: beef brisket- very good, ribs - awesome, wings - good, shrimp - unshelled but good, fried green tomatoes- amazing, fried green tomato ultimate blt - best thing i've had in a freaking long time, coleslaw - good but more of a mayo base compared to other slaws, mac and cheese - so freaking good, cajun corn - awesome and would totally get again, mashed potatoes - mediocre fake potatoes, black beans and rice - really good, fruit - wow strawberries blueberries pineapple all impressive. overall, this was worth the trip to rochester. we're all a little disappointed we can't come back for another lunch or dinner!
only complaints were the potatoes and our server didn't refill our water at all.

not everything hear is something to take note of, but the bbq chicken is fantastic... order dark meat. ribs and pulled pork also very decent.

totally worth the trip. the half rack of ribs with maple sweet potatoes and cole slaw was outstanding. the ribs had just enough smoke! 3 kinds of sauce on the table! try them all!

great ribs, good people. they don't do pretentious here people, so go looking for some beer and great q. you will wait but the fact that it's packed is a sign. loved it can't wait to go again!

this had live music, not really my fav, i prefer to have a quite meal, but having said this, food was quite good, helped by the stewardess about her fav and the restaurant favs.

two of us had ordered fried green tomatoes (just too good), drunken spicy shrimp boil-would have loved this warm than being a cold snack, and for the main entree, it was my all time like-buffalo wings with devil sauce. this was a disappointment on the sauce, wasnt so spicy.

but overall a good meal with a pub like feeling, on the banks of the river, and with a chill january evening outside.

went there for dinner with a few friends and we absolutely loved the food! it was pretty well made. if you like some good ranch on the side with fries..this is the place to go to. their burgers are extremely yummy and they are decently priced as well. i think the only issue we found was being able to find a table for us which took some waiting.

nothing like the syracuse location. bbq and sides are not close to the quality of the original location. as a dino fanatic, very disappointed.

up and down but mostly up. depending on the night, your meal can go from good to spectacular. i never liked bbq until i came there.... but some visits have been less than eventful or memorable. so if it's not good your first time, don't be disenchanted, just come again.

overrated and tasteless. after many glowing recommendations from family and endorsements from food network, we were eager to try the food on our trip to syracuse. we ordered the brisket, which was very fatty and hard to chew. after one bite, the entire piece of brisket came out of my sanfetich. i tried cutting it and had difficulties. this was served on a non toasted hot dog bun...

the sides...my fries were so hard i could not bite them. my husbands mac and cheese was cold. the corn bread lacked flavor.

our waitress was barely present. if this is the bes of ny, i feel very sorry for you.
i will never return.

i like this place for the atmosphere. i always get a half rack of ribs when i eat bbq. i would have to say this place is a bump below famous dave's. the ribs are good, but a little dry and not quite as succulent as i like. i like the original bbq sauce the best - the other options leave a lot to be desired. the beans are peculiar with a vinegar base, not really the bbq baked beans i was expecting.

it's pretty good for a cny bbq.

when i sought some restaurant recommendations for syracuse, new york , the vast majority of people told me to dine at dinosaur bar-b-que . with all that positive support, and after a review of their website, i figured i would stop there for dinner. founded by some motorcyle enthusiasts, the restaurant is open for lunch and dinner, with outside tables, plenty of interior dining space, and a lengthy bar. the walls are adorned with an eclectic mix of old signs, posters, music pictures, and other quirky items. it has a fun ambiance, a casual place to have a good time. they have a full bar, with a long list of beers, including numerous local brews. the wine list is less compelling, with the usual major commercial wines on the list. the food menu is fairly extensive, with primarily bbq and southern dishes, including appetizers, sandwiches, entrees and over fifteen sides. you'll find items including drunken spicy shrimp boil, bbq salmon fritters, bronzed catfish, mojito chicken steak and much

this is the most famous barbecue place in upstate new york. great neighborhood bar feel to it; laid back and friendly. the bbq was so outstanding (try the "big ass pulled pork plate") we ordered it twice!

few times does service turn me off to a place but this place did it. they have some neanderthal "bouncer" who works there that made a overly large deal out of how every motorcycle was parked. just to see this guy yell profanitys at the customers was enough to tell me they don't take their business seriously. there's plenty of other good bbq on this small city to go to that joke.

the only items i have eaten so far are the ribs, dirty rice, and corn bread. corn bread was good but the ribs and dirty rice were outstanding. finding a parking spot is a serious problem if you want to eat at this restaurant. this is the only reason i won't go back. parking tickets downtown are very expensive.
