starting trouble is what this restaurant has. they obviously have a great idea of displaying fresh fish on ice asking the customer to choose the fish, the style of cooking and the sauce. however they have a novice chef and staff who are presently ruining the concept.
i ordered seer fish pollichathu, a traditional kerala fish dish cooked in a thick onion based gravy, wrapped in banana leaf and pan roasted. here they had well cooked fish wrapped in banana leaf but forgot the all important gravy which was replaced by an overdose of cocum which made the fish terribly sour. there was no other seasoning. i would have preferred eating this with something light and all they had was naan making the whole lunch difficult to swallow mainly due to the lack of a a thick gravy.
the chef can do well to eat in one of the other restaurants in town before attempting such complex dishes.
i was however put off by the waiter who had no uniform and looked poorly groomed and looked like he had just walked in from the street. they don’t believe in niceties like having a jug to pour water, just a used plastic bottle. the other staff including the chef would do better with some uniforms and some grooming.
i will also suggest you try this place a couple of months later when they get serious with running the place and once the chef has some practice. till then go elsewhere if you don’t want to ruin your vacation.
