best meal. went for valentine's day 2014 and made reservations about two weeks beforehand. immediately seated--place was nicely decorated and didn't feel too fancy that you would be uncomfortable. one thing that struck me as off was the layout and how disjointed it seemed at first but overall it had a continuity to it. our waiter was attentive and very passionate about his job--i wish i remembered his name because he stopped the order to recommend a better wine for us which i admired. food was a tad expensive for the portions but it was a special menu, the fish was the freshest i've had, and the wine pairings/flavors were pretty perfect. i would recommend this place to anyone here for special days, but i'd definitely have to go again on a regular business day to solidify my opinion. coming from someone who thinks pappadeaux is fairly expensive.

being a true advocate for the poor, it’s always a first priority to inform citizens as to whether a place is kind of affordable or off-the-chart unobtainable. for a restaurant to get away with hurting poor people’s feeling with high prices, there needs to be relevance. questions have to be asked. is our server going to massage my feet between apps and entree? will wine be accompanied by a shirtless buff hottie feeding me grapes before and after every single sip? these are important questions dallas fish market needs to answer. it’s the right thing to do. my heart hurts a little each time a restaurant charges for a side. why can’t every restaurant be sweet and include a little this or that on the entree plate? this never happened in the 80′s. entrees came with a side in the good ole’ days. now customers have to pay $10 for a side of mushrooms? this ups t

birthday celebration. my beautiful wife, denise and i went to the dallas fish market to celebrate her birthday last night. we made our reservation on line for 7:00pm. we arrived at 6:50 and were seated immediately at a table for 4. the room was dimly lit but had a view of the street so you didn't feel like you were sitting in a cave. the décor is upscale and the restaurant was clean. unfortunately, the lavatories were in need of attention.
katy, our server, was very prompt and friendly. she brought my wife and i our waters and immediately returned with complimentary glasses of champagne to toast her birthday. it was dead on 7:00pm when katy took or order. i then ordered my wife a glass of wine and myself a cup of unembellished black coffee. my wife and i find most portions to be too large for one person, so we usually split a main entre. we ordered the surf and turf (steak on garlic and onion mashed potato), one caesar salad and the asian sautéed vegetables. she returned shortly afterwards with individual sharp cheese and chive biscuits with a butter and honey spread. which went quite well with the clean smooth house coffee. it's nice to have a good cup of coffee that is not over roasted or so strong you need to have your teeth bleached afterwards. she said the coffee was an italian blend called lavazza. a little later katy returned with complimentary lobster lollipops. at first i thought it was due to my wifes birthday. but looking around i could see that other tables were also enjoying the lobster lollipops as well. which were somewhat like a small lobster corny dog on a stick. the main entre arrived at 7:30 short the asian sautéed vegetables. since it appeared that we might have over ordered we cancelled the veggies. the steak was cooked as ordered, rare. it was tender, tasty and not over seasoned, great balance. after we had finished katy returned to remove our plates and to present my wife with a complimentary crème brule with red and blue berries adorning the top. the final bill was $78.37. this is a restaurant i would recommend and will be returning with friends again.

yum!. went during happy hour on a thursday. they were booked so i sat at the bar. i had a glass of red wine and a cesar salad. i eat low carb/high fat, so i asked for no croutons and a side of olive oil. what i didn't know was that the parmesan was in the form of a giant wafer. i *loved* it. i actually buy parmesan crisps from the grocery store once in a blue moon because i love the flavor and miss the texture of chips, so it was the best thing in the

great staff. too bad the fare doesn't meet the service. being in the wholesale meats industry makes me somewhat prejudice when it comes to ala carte, expensive dining. i have no problem stating publicly, "this place sucked". there was variety at the table from seafood to beef to appetizers. all were well short on quality, preparation and subsequently, value. i gets one star because the wine and cocktails were top shelf.

first off i like the decor and lighting. hostess very friendly, waiters were really nice. with that said, i have to be frank- it was missing flavor! the portions did not match the prices! there are bigger portions at cheesecake factory! i had the salmon with a side of mashed potatoes- none of which had seasoning, only a touch of salt. i was very disappointed unfortunately.

don't waste your time!. service was awful! slow, slow, slow! got our drinks order wrong twice and the waiter changed his tip amount (had to find out on bank statement) because we did not leave him more than 15%.never had overcooked scallops (pretty rubbery) and crunchy risotto. the fish market tower was really good as was the lobster corn chowder, but everything else was sub par and overpriced!

horrible experience. i read about dallas fish market in "d" magazine. their recommendations are typically spot on, but this one was way off! we went with a large party to celebrate a birthday...what a disappointment! the waiter was rude, the selection was limited and the prices were high for what you get. as the food was served, one of the valet persons came and asked for our parking tickets stating "because otherwise you will wait one hour for your car after dinner". the checks came almost immediately after that, without ever offering dessert, coffee, nor an after dinner drink! i would fire the waiter who did not offer ever single guest dessert! there are lots of great places to eat in dallas; this just is not one of them.

the food was delicious. both the scallops and the swordfish were wonderful. it was the service that was lacking. our waitress had to be found more than once. we were there for a birthday celebration and they got the guest of honor's food wrong. i wouldn't go if i was trying to impress a date or out of town guest.

not all that. it is great to see the revitalization of downtown dallas with the lofts, condos and new restaurants. however, what i don't understand is what ever happened to the 5 star restaurants dallas use to boast about?
this restaurant has a great chef and the food is good. yet, the lack of professionalism from the management to the serving staff is sad. a lot of thought was put into this venture; yet they forgot the one ingredient that made the mansion on turtle creek a 5 star restaurant/hotel and that is the service and knowledge that kept that restaurant on the 5 star list for many years.
what happened to good, old fashioned 5 star service? it appears that restaurants attempt to hire kids and turn them into experienced wait staff. service is an art and very much lacking in this restaurant owned by mike hoque.
why are the managers of such caliber so young and inexperienced? if it is due to the fact that they don't want to pay professionals then they are missing the mark. old addage is that you get what you pay for. in this case the dallas fish market falls short.
i will not go back there until i hear of better everything as it's not worth the price to listen to one of the managers scream at staff. this is better served for behind closed doors. not in front of the patrons....

the food has unique flavors and was delicious. the downside - lunch cost $40+ for small portions.
