got to say one of the best places with customer service and the staff are so friendly n polite. they were so amazing with our daughter and even gave her small gift. the food was amazing as well. we went around i believe 2:30-3:00 and the staff was having there lunch and we felt bad we were interrupting them. however they didn’t mind and stopped eating and looked after us so well. checked on us many times. everything was perfect from start to finish. ambience quality of food and quantity service price everything was excellent. will definitely visit again when we are in the area.

yeah this is a hands down 5. i absolutely loved it...the service is really good and the food is seriously delish.
i ordered their spicy pork and the chicken dish which came out with purple rice. purple rice was actually really good and the spicy pork was hands down one of the best i've had from a korean restaurant. i could eat that everyday

the stews are amazing here, probably best in auckland. so flavorful and so many different side dishes to try. they are usually very busy so we were lucky to get a table. i will come back again 🙂

daam so is a hidden gem in my opinion situated in east tamaki. we were going to visit poong ro instead but we are glad we got to try out daam so instead. you've earned a new customer ~ my dad (+ the entire family) who is obsessed now and vows to visit every time he visits east auckland. between four hungry people (who just had a hike at hunua), we got the following dishes:

side dishes + rice (5/5) - dad thoroughly enjoyed the spicy marinated wheat glutens and i enjoyed the kimchi the most. their kimchi is a bit sweeter than usual kimchi but amazingly delicious. i'd go back just for the kimchi.

pork backbone stew (3/5) - although very nice base and delicious potatoes and veggies. i'm too lazy to actually extract the meat from the bones. the family loved this though but agree to order something that requires less effort to eat next time.

kimchi stew (5/5) - mum's favourite as she said it was super flavourful and went so well with rice. love anything kimchi so thumbs up from me too.

seafood pancake (4/5) - savoury pancake with squid, a bit plain in my opinion but still addicting.

grilled sweet beef (4/5) - not as sweet as i thought it'll be but tasted healthy since it's loaded with vegetables. went well with rice since the grilled flavour came through.

grilled spicy squid and pork belly (5/5) - one of my favourite dish. sweeter than the grilled sweet beef but the combination of lean squid and the fatty pork belly was so good. married well with rice.

another notable thing was the service. the waiter saw us 4 fitted onto a small table and gave us a bigger one. they were running around the restaurant as well due to the many guests eating out. very busy night for a well-deserved restaurant! i highly recommend :)

celebrated my fathers 73rd birthday. great service. very attentive and respectful. ordered a variety of meals from the menu. the food was well presented and all came with rice and side dishes. the side dishes were very small portions, teaspoon scoop at the most. the meals that stood out were the seafood pancake, the spicy chicken, spicy pork and veg meals. very plentiful and flavorful. the bimbipap lacked meat portions, however it was tasty. the pig knuckles came out cold to our surprise but was taken back to the kitchen and replaced. overall, the experience was lovely. the woman at the cashier was friendly and kind to our children. would definitely be going back.

this is my family’s favourite korean restaurant. we have been coming here since their first year of opening up and we pretty much go here almost every week. we have taken family and friends here and they all thanked us for introducing this place to them.
this place gets busy and full during dinner time.
food is packed with flavours, service is great and the owners are lovely. husband and i love their grilled chicken, grilled pork, soft tofu soup and our daughter loves their beef rib soup and seafood pancake.
my 6yr old daughter loves this place because she gets special treatment which they do to all kids, especially when they are not too busy. kids get their special bowl, seaweed snacks, probiotic drink, lollies and even ice cream sometimes.

this is honestly my favourite korean food place in auckland. food is so authentic and yum. it feels like you’re eating home made cooking which is the best (to me). the staff are always so lovely and the food is always immaculate. i’ve bought so many of my friends here cos it’s that good.

great food as usual. but in these covid times, i really appreciate that all the staff don a clear mouth covering. we can see what they are talking about, and yet it's hygienic, as there will be no spit from their talking into the good served by them.

i’m always on the look out for a good korean bbq and i’ve been to a few in auckland that just have not left a last impression. this one did.

daamso looks like a bit of a rundown tired cafe from the outside that needs a bit of a reno (so no glam kpop style trimmings here) but the food and quality and variety on the menu was a winner as was the lovely friendly service and the overall vibe in this ever crowded restaurant.

liked:
1. excellent variety in their offer with marinated and i marinated meats to order, a good selection of cooked korean dishes, a nice variety of side dishes.

2. no minimum per pax order unlike some of their competitors around the corner.

3. must tries - their spicy squid and seafood pancakes. use the pancakes to mop up the sauce from the squid - heavenly and toast the pancakes on the grill to eat them crispy and hot.

4. friendly owners and staff. the place is very busy as it’s got a great following amongst local koreans, asian families and korean food lovers. and yet the lovely owner - comes around to give you a hand at the table if you are having problems searing your meats and flips them over for you like a pro. the lady boss at the counter was so nice and handed out two yoghurt drinks to our kids before we left and said - “here something for your daughters!” just such a nice hospitable touch today our overall experience.

5. place may not have the glam element of a trendy or authentic k-restaurant but at the end i enjoyed the home-style feel of the place and the overall “vibe” of everyone enjoying their meals and chatting away and the hustle and bustle without feeling rushed to clear a table for the next crowd coming in.

definitely coming back to this place.

fish roe soup and pork soup wasn’t very good, i was expecting something better for a review of 4.3 restaurant. maybe we tried the wrong dishes.
