nice little out of the way spot: quiet. parking lot was simple and easy to navigate. the place itself doesn't look anything special on the outside- very plain rather than gaudy. service was prompt and friendly, even when delayed slightly (by an elderly couple i held the door open for). interior design is slightly lacking in natural light but there was a definite brunch restaurant aesthetic that was exactly what i expected and hoped for. menu was organized well and not too cluttered. waitress was quick as well as sociable, and my food came ten minutes after i finished ordering. french toast combo with the half n half. dishes and silverware were clean. food tasted fantastic. french toast was thick but not too thick, and warm but not too hot; the whipped butter served alongside it in a little cup melted in less than a minute, and their syrup has a closer consistency to true maple syrup than to the store bought high fructose corn syrup. the eggs, which i ordered scrambled, had good flavor and weight to them; i only needed a tiny bit of salt and black pepper. the sausage patties were mediocre but the sausage gravy was very good- spicy, meaty, and flavorful. the biscuits have excellent texture, perfect balance of tender and flaky, and taste like biscuits. far superior to mcdonalds biscuits and almost as good as cracker barrel's. the potatoes were cut uniformly and weren't greasy, and actually tasted like potatoes. orange juice was pulpless- i personally prefer it that way- but you can't really mess up oj. the table had a nice assortment of coffee creamers and half n half, plenty of grape/strawberry jelly and apple butter, and both regular and jalapeño ketchup (which made the sausage patties better). the waitress checked in on me every ten minutes, which was a bit of a shock to the system but was pleasant. i had asked for a water and there it was almost immediately. when the check came it was a very reasonable price- the slightly overpriced juice was offset by the fair deals on the food. all in all a very good, positive, and delicious experience. my literal only complaint would be the choice in television: cnn and fox. i will be back again.
