culvers

i did not think the food was very good, but some people must really like it because the place was packed and it is highly rated on several sites. there will not be a return visit to culver's for me unless i am put in a straight jacket and drug in by large captors.

great little fast food joint. ate at one in south dakota a few years ago that was yummy. this place is just as good. my only suggestion would be to let the cheese melt a little longer on the burger. taste was there though. as always the fried cheese & root beer were delish!

we wanted ice cream, but we also wanted a bite to eat…and culvers offers both! we’ve both been to culvers a few times in the past and we’ve enjoyed it every time.

om: i first had culvers over 6 years ago in minnesota – i liked it then and i like it now. i’ve noticed that the employees do a pretty good job in keeping the restaurant clean, i can’t remember a time walking in and there being dirty tables or trash on the floor, so kudos to them. it’s not quite “fast food” but also not a sit down restaurant, kind of in-bewteen. i ordered a double bacon cheddar butterburger along with some fries for my meal. the best way i can describe their food is that it’s definitely above average, but not quite excellent. the fries are of the crinkle cut variety and were crispy. the burger was substantial and it doesn’t look like the meat patties were frozen, i did wish it was just a bit more substantial though. still pretty good. i also had a few onion rings, again very good. love the cheese curds though, the only restaurant that i know of that offers them! fried cheese? oh yea, definitely something that i’ll order again. for dessert i tried both their vanilla and strawberry shake, and they were very good. strawberry shake had pieces of strawberry in it, both shakes thick. i would say this is just outside the top three burger joints in mckinney, but i would definitely go back no questions asked!

nom: i didn’t have culvers until i moved to mckinney and i’m so glad i tried them! the place is always very clean and the cashier was very nice and patient as we waited for the kids to decide what they wanted to eat. i only ordered the cheese curds as i knew someone wouldn’t finish their dinner and i could enjoy what they didn’t eat and maybe cut down on the leftovers. the youngest ordered the shrimp basket and i knew he would like it very much but also knew he couldn’t finish all the shrimp so i got to enjoy them too. the shrimp is very good. they look to be panko breaded and were very good not too fishy like some seafood can be sometimes. we like culvers very much and will go back for sure!

don't let the name fool you this is not a family restaraunt. it is nothing more than a fast food greasy spoon. you order at a counter and the burger comes dripping with grease. if you are looking for a true family sit down place look elsewhere. if you want a fast good gut bomb than this is the place for you.

this is not fast food. i have been going to culver's for many years. i can't decide which of their items i like the best, their burgers, their fried chicken or their cod. the last time i was here i ordered their cod. i overheard another guy whisper to his wife, "who orders fish here? you come here for the burgers." well, he is missing out. granted the burgers here are great, but there is a wonderland of food to be discovered. the cod is crisp and not oily at all. you do have to wait a little while for the food to be prepared as it is not fast food at all. the start making it the moment that you order it. the wait usually isn't too long. ten minutes max. but the food is piping hot when you get it. the cod comes with fries which are usually pretty good and cole slaw, which also is tasty.

i don't always get their concretes when i am here, but i have always enjoyed them. i have a culver's app on my phone so i can always check to see what their fresh flavor of the day is. oh my gosh, today's flavor is caramel cashew which probably is my favorite. i'm going to wait though. the culver's in flower mound is actually closer and is as good as any of them. each one has their own special of the day.

i hope i piqued your interest in culver's. i don't think you will be disappointed. i haven't been yet!

everyone in our family loves culvers. it's always a treat. great food, great prices, friendly staff. very nice atmosphere for fast food too.

one of our fav places to eat in mckinney. the burgers and frozen custard are especially yummy!!! culver's makes a very tasty burger and uses high-quality ingredients. the fries and cheese curds are golden and delicious. the "flavor of the day" frozen custard features special ingredients mixed into the custard, or you can always order vanilla or chocolate frozen custard. the turtle sundae is perfection and our son loves the shakes. there is a grilled chicken sandwich or grilled chicken salads that we also like to order. we have eaten at various culver's for over 15 years, they are very consistent with the deliciousness and quality of their food.

we had a burger basket. it was ok for something different. not awesome, but not bad. we'd eat it again. next time we'll try the custard. the fries were crinkle cut and hot and crispy!

best desserts in mckinney!!!!!. they have the best frozen custard than any place in mckinney by far. their burgers are very good also!!! i always visit them when i am in mckinney.

wish there were more.... in mn culver's seemed to be a bit more prevalent than they are in tx. it's too bad because they are a very underrated burger joint. they even have the old fashioned crinkle cut fries! the burgers are a bit greasy but well worth it once the meaty delight hits your taste buds. have yet to try their concrete mixers, which i've heard are excellent. now if they can just build some more down here...

favorites: butterburger w/cheese, wisconsin cheese curds, fries.

great custard. yummy custard. you can get a better burger elsewhere though. the wisconsin cheese curds, or whatever they're called, are not good. just go there for custard. they change their specialty flavor daily.

as "fast food" goes .... this place is great! it's a @#$% shame that they don't have a better location. it's a tribute to their food that this jewel of a fast-food franchise survives in mckinney.
