authentic french food.  always delicious.  order, then sit in or outside on san carlos ave.  servers then bring your food.  moules frites always excellent and the quiche was delicious.

cuisinett, san carlos, california:

an old colleague from india who is now well placed in palo alto, took me out to dinner and remembered my penchant for good french food, so thus we “arrivi derci ed into this quaint place in san carlos called cuisinett. the ordering routine is a little quirky if not odd - order and pay at the counter, then find a table, and they bring the food to you when it's ready. ever smiling staff was very friendly. the food is delicious and absolutely authentic french. i was interested in beef bourguignon, which is one of many examples of peasant dishes being slowly refined into haute cuisine. most likely, the particular method of slowly simmering the beef in wine originated as a means of tenderizing cuts of meat that would have been too tough to cook any other way !!!

beef bourguignon is a stew hailing from burgundy in france is prepared with beef braised in red wine, traditionally red burgundy, and beef broth, generally flavoured with garlic, onions and a bouquet garni, with pearl onions and mushrooms added towards the end of cooking. traditionally, the meat was larded with lardons, but modern beef is sufficiently tender and well-marbled, so this very time-consuming technique is rarely used any more. however, bacon cut into small cubes is still used to produce the initial cooking fat and added to the dish at the end. the beef was tender and heavenly to taste. the taste still lingers in mouth.

my friend ordered a bottle of good french wine and the steak au poivre with pomme frites. sauce was on point & steak was cooked to perfect temp . frites were great too.

we ended the evening with my favourite crème brulee which is basically a dessert consisting of a rich custard base topped with a contrasting layer of hard caramel. it is normally served at room temperature. the custard base is traditionally flavored with vanilla, but can have a variety of other flavorings. belive me it was torched to perfection. yum it was………………………..

food was good especially with the ambience of sitting on the side walk and watching the sunset

loved everything about this place.

food-8/10

ambience-9/10

service-7/10 ever smiling waiters who have a good memory, after all. suggestions of the waiter would have made it better.

value for money-8/10

recommend this place to all and i am going to visit it more and more…………

the ordering routine is a little quirky - order and pay at the counter, then find a table, and they bring the food to you when it's ready. staff is very friendly. the food is delicious and absolutely authentic french. we tried the lunch. big servings of kid favorites for the kids. our croque monsieur was tender inside, crisp outside. poulet roti came with a choice of classic sauces. moutarde perfect. good choice of wines - mostly french, of course. prices fair for what you get.

great new addition to san carlos. my family (2 young children) and i have had quite a few meals at cuisinett. the food, atmosphere and service are all spot on. there's enough variety without being overwhelming and the quality of the food is top notch. the concept of lining up to order before getting a table takes about one minute to get used to, but then after that it all works. we have found the owner to be welcoming and genuinely thankful for our patronage.

i'd recommend cuisinett to anyone who wants a quick bite or for those who want to linger a bit for conversation and a glass of wine.

french attitude in san carlos. we had to walk out due to the obnoxious attitude that we received from the restaurant owner as soon as we walked through the front door. the final draw was due to one of my friend had to sit down at a table and i was in line ordering for the food. the owner told my friend not to sit down until we ordered the food. so we decided to leave the restaurant. my words to them are, "you don't hassle the customers when they try to patronize your restaurant. there are too many places to eat"

for vegetarians, their ratatouille is quite good and is served with a simple salad of mixed greens. the buttery parmesan breadcrumbs on top contrast nicely with the nutty, toasty flavor and the mix of yellow and red bell peppers, various squash and eggplant make for a hear
