really really nice coffee! smooth and rich with silky milk - i'd return for the coffee alone!

the food came out super fast, which was impressive due to the number of customers that were seated at the time.

service was friendly, however upon arriving i was unsure whether to seat myself or wait to be taken to a table - a sign would have been helpful here.

overall a pleasant experience that i would certainly recommend!

commonfolk coffee is a warehouse converted café and restaurant that you may expect to find in uber hip fitzroy or collingwood… but it is actually tucked away in an industrial area in mornington. aside from a fantastic space to eat and drink, there are a series of small artist studios, where local artists not only display their work, but also actually do it in full view of diners. so you could definitely say that it is a unique place...

meh.
i've been here a couple of times and i really want to love it but it's just not working for me...
not the best coffee in mornington but certainly not the worst. food is overpriced for what you get and i haven't had anything that's "wow"-ed me.
staff are usually friendly but there have been several rude baristas that don't make the wait worth it.
reaaaaally want to love it...

we have been to commonfolk coffee once before and the service was slow but i wanted to give it another go. like the other cafe's we like it is in an industrial area so it is a large place and they do all the roasting on site. it is light and airy and the staff are friendly. it was a beautiful day so we all sat outside and watched the children run around and play. its good to see a place that has space for children to run around. the area is a courtyard so they can't escape either.

this place is a little confusing. in the industrial area of mornington which is nice to be off the main street. they don't take bookings so you just turn up. i find their customer service lacks. if i didn't phone ahead to make a booking i wouldn't have known you walk in and have to find a table yourself, there's not anyone by the door to take you to a table. i was told going at 1030 i'd definitely get a table and the lady has only ever turned away people twice. well sure enough there was no tables when i arrived. after walking around like a lost goose for a while with 3 friends we sat outside (which was dirty and cold) we were freezing so moved inside and found a table where people had just left full of plates and old food (which is usually cleared while the customer is still at the table). anyway you then have to get your own water and go up to the register to order food and coffee, which is fine.. it is a laid back venue. so we ordered all at once paying separately and all giving our name with our order. we're back at the table for not even 5 minutes then my meal comes out (the scrambled tofu w avocado) with the waiter calling my name, i don't like to wait too long for food but when it's that quick you start to wonder if it's fresh or not. then one at a time the other 3 girls food came (bacon and eggs, a toastie and the smashed avo) by the time the last meal was out it had been almost ten minutes since my meal came, and call me old fashioned but i do like to wait until everyone's meal is out before i start eating.
i must admit the food was really really good! likewise with the coffee.
i think if they hired a couple more staff and tweaked a few things it could be a really good place but at the moment it's very confusing, a little too laid back.

we visited on a saturday morning and enjoyed our coffees immensely. we just beat the cyclist rush, this is a popular spot for those riding around the bay. i wasn't a huge fan of my brekky which was a bit like a huevos rancheros. it was huge, and too much happening on the plate. i think i'd opt for something a bit simpler next time. it's a cool space though and the coffee was consistent. we'll definitely be back.

this place has potential. the actual cafe is spacious and great for families and big groups, however the cafe needs to pick up on their food! the food is very basic and overpriced! all the food is pre-made! we waited over an hour for food! for $10.50 we got 2 slices of toast with smashed avo on the slide and some slices of tomato! i could make this at home! we thought we would get two big fresh slice of sourdough bread with beautiful sliced avo (seasoned) with tomatoes sliced and also seasoned! better food presentation is needed! coffee was good!

despite the spooky friday the 13th date, this event was all class; with local wines, beautiful food and even better presentation. finesse catering group is the brainchild of couple brad and roong, both chefs with international experience; brad has travelled and cooked through america and south east asia, and roong who has brought the flavour and flair from her home country thailand.

the burgers looked delicious but didn't get a chance to have one.

the industrial location & warehouse building actually encapsulates a refined dining experience. outstanding coffee and a simplistic, but tasteful breakfast menu in an open and expansive setting makes this probably one of the top destinations for mornington breaky. it's fun and charismatic, without being claustrophobic and cramped.

i felt completely hypnotized by the smell of their coffee. it is by far one of the best coffee i have had in melbourne. it’s very easy to miss this place as it is nestled amidst repair garages and warehouses. but just follow your nose to the irresistible coffee!

the food as well was really tasty, generous portion size and used a clever array of ingredients to create a memorable brunch experience for all the senses.
the ambience is very inviting, it’s almost like you walk through a small warehouse door into a world of magical, delightful tastes and smells!
we will be back again soon..

just left after dining here, i chose this place due to the menu listed on zomato but it has since changed as it is a seasonal menu (my bad for not looking at their website). i chose the chicken burger which was similar to the korean burger on the zomato menu. i’ve eaten an unglodly amount of korean, vietnamese and japanese food with pickles and will even eat pickled onions straight from the jar and buy them from the asian supermarket to dump all over my japanese curry at home but the pickled vegetables they provided on the side of the burger, especially the carrot were the most overpoweringly strong ones i’ve ever had. i put only a few strands in the burger before trying them (oops) and it completely overpowered the rest of the flavours in the burger! i tried a piece by itself and it almost made my eyes water because it tasted like nothing but pure rice wine vinegar or something. my fiancé was also unable to eat it.

i also ordered the sticky chai latte and although i know chai commonly had anise in it it had a very very strong liquorice aftertaste which personally for me was quite unpleasant, some people may like that though.

apart from those things the burger was very tasty and the chips were absolutely perfect, it also is a really beautiful space with lovely atmosphere. staff were friendly too. please note the current prices are a bit higher than the zomato menu too. the burger is $25 with chips compared to $20 on the uploaded menu.

i’ve given the place a 4 even though my personal experience was more like a 3, the chai was a big disappointment as i have never disliked a chai in my life but that could be due to my own personal taste as others may love the taste of anise. if i lived in the area i may have given the place another go.
