view is great. prices are alittle steep.

my friends and i found the food and drinks to be superb.  the service was good.  we had the perfect table outside on the lower level, with unobstructed views of the water. we arrived at 5pm and there was no wait.

disappointing brunch. bloody mary was small & tasteless except for horseradish - lime wedge & 2 olives were only garnish. never recvd basket of bread although man next to us polished off 2 of them. baked eggs were way underdone. crab cakes had no pumpkin seeds, and were burned on one side. won't go back.

my previous review, from 2012, was rather negative on this place but they seemed to have turned things around.  there is still a peculiar mix of upscale coastal seafood along with ultra-douchey ganset-style 'nightclub' scene, so its very hard to know what you're walking into.  but our visit on a sunny saturday, sitting on their sprawling deck with the waves crashing right below us, was just perfect.   probably the best fried calamari i've had in ten years, so tender it melts in your mouth without a trace of rubberiness, and the spicy, freshly stuffed 'stuffies' were fantastic too.   i'm already looking forward to a return trip for dinner.

beautifully redone, except for the service. wow, what a fabulous job refurbishing the place. it's gorgeous. unfortunately, the service is as awful as it was in all of the previous versions of the cgh. inattentive bartenders and clueless waitstaff. three try's with the same result. sorry...

ask for alex in the upper bar - great service to match the food and the atmosphere.

best dinner this year. i live in narragansett. the food at the coast guard house has always been about average. i am very pleased to report the latest meal i had there with my partner was beyond fabulous. the kitchen and menu has changed, the food is wonderful, the service was great, and of course, the view! i had the atlantic salmon, and it was the best i have had this year. a generous piece, with wonderful vegetables and a light lemon pudding of sorts, actually so good i could not have asked for more. the flavors melded, the salmon had a bit of a crunch on the top - ok, i was in heaven. my partner, very fussy, had the seafood over pasta, and he said it was outstanding. the clams were succulent, said he, and the sauce was spicy, just to his liking. we will definitely go back, as we winter here as well, and this was just a great meal all around. btw, i have always thought the cgh has the best clam chowder i have ever tasted.

great food. loverly setting right on narraganset beach. amazing views. always great service. we live here and go regularly. try the calimari. right out of the bay where the best are caught. pt. judith.

definitely try this lobster roll. this is one spot where the fabulosity of the view and the deliciousness of the roll come close to each other. you usually get one or the other. skip the tuna tartare, so spicy i had to eat a ton of bread to quench the fire, and i like spicy. on the way out, i noticed that the coast guard house has a food truck, wonder if that lobster roll is as good? we then walked along the water and took in the newport independence day fireworks that you could see across the water, framed by the newport bridge. gorgeous spot!

disappointment on a special night .... i brought my family for a very special night out after a graduation. i felt the service was poor, especially in a room with only 2 other parties. i felt that as soon as our server knew that we weren't drinking any alcohol the service went down hill. 15 minutes for water refills, a basket of bread that had 4 pieces in it ( we were a party of 6) and it arrived when most of our meals were more than half consumed and we sat with dirty dishes on the table for at least 20 minutes after we had finished our meals. the food however was excellent .... at least i can say that. i won't be running back anytime soon however .... there's great seafood and steak all over our ocean state!

best rhode island dining experience. we went to the coast guard house on wednesday night and it was just delicious and enjoyable from start to finish. the restaurant facing east to the beautiful atlantic ocean, sets the scene for a very peaceful dining experience.
i started with the pear salad and my date had the cerviche.. the service was incredible and the seafood special and the salmon were cooked perfectly. the vanilla creme brulee and flourless chocolate cake made for great dessert endings to a very enjoyable dinner..

great food, great service!. coast guard house never seems to disapoint. they are always on their a game, coming up with the most delicious dishes. im glad it is feb so they will be reopening soon. you can't beat the view, always great serivce with a smile. you really feel like your someone special while dining. my daughter and i are going to start going to their sunday brunches, i've been twice and loved it. shes getting old enough to join in the girls brunches and is so excited to do so at this great rhode island restaurant. i also was so pleased to hear that mr. caprio and the restaurant showed interest and colaborated with march of dimes. great restaurant and great cause. always a great time here!

this place is beyond great , the view itself is amazing!! the food there is beautifully presented and has so much flavor words cant describe! i went there with my husband after meeting chef raymond at the singanature chef auction. he amazed us there with hos custard inside of an egg shell. great presentation and so much creativity was put into it , not to mention is was so good we had three! he was the talk of the event so we haddd to go to coast guard house. this is now our new favorite place and we are going to book our valentines day reservations there. great bar , great view, awsome service, beyond great food!

landmark. the coast guard house, like its adjacent edifice, is a landmark.

there is not really a bad seat in the house. the chairs are comfortable, should you choose to linger for dessert and soak in the scenery.

the food is excellent. an inventive array of fresh ingredients comprise a sumptuous menu, especially for those who love seafood. a great place to experiment, you can not make a bad choice.

the portions were moderate, but deceivingly ample and allowed room for a lively and decadent dessert.

you will surely pay for all five stars, but not one facet of this culinary experience will be overlooked. our host was warm and polite, our server kind, professional and knowledgeable.

the coast guard house offers perfect ambiance for a date, occasion, or guests from out of state to demonstrate that rhode islanders, if nothing else, know how to eat.

great food, great location!. i love the coast guard house. the food is delicious and the service is great. their lobster ravioli is amazing.
