cloverleaf bar and restaurant

do not eat here!. first of all what a dump! mismatched dining furniture that is clearly neglected. the place on the whole looks rundown. i could smell mold mixed with the smell of italian food. and then there's the food. i'm not at all a picky eater but i ordered the create your own pasta, a fairly simple dish, and the chicken tasted boiled. it ruined an otherwise tasty meal. service was good, however i didn't appreciate hearing the manager yelling at the staff in front of the entire dining room. i asked my waitress if that happens often and she said with an embarrassed smile that it does. needless to say i will not be coming back

bad evening at cloverleaf. i grew up in the neighborhood and my husband and i relocated here 18 years ago so cloverleaf is a well known icon of our city. we don't go out to eat much so when we do we try to go somewhere nice. so tonight we decided to go to cloverleaf. we were seated quickly and drinks were delivered in a reasonable amount of time and we ordered our meal. from there it went down hill. first, my husband was told he could not substitute a side of pasta for a baked potato with his meal. the waitress explained that they just got a new menu and the computer wouldn't allow for a swap. (really? an italian restaurant that refuses to serve pasta on the side?) after about 25 minutes of waiting while we sat and watched the waitresses stand around the cash counter socializing we finally got our soup and bread basket . their trademark sweet crispy bread was limp and soggy. the waitress explained that the guy that usually makes it must not be there so they must have had someone making it that didn't know how. then, when we had barely started our soup the main course was delivered to our table crowding us with dishes. the food was good, but the menu is now very limited in selections unless you want pizza and the wait staff needs some schooling. we'll stick to the villa and grand dimitri's from now on.

love, love. this has always been a favorite place for my family to dine, any time we have an excuse to get together, its usuallly at cloverleaf. the pizza is one of the best, if not the best, in metro detroit. they also have other dishes that are equally as delicous such as their antipasto salads, mac and cheese, chicken parm. all super yummy. mid-priced but for what you get, it seems very fair. wait times can be longer, but thats because they are making your food fresh. def worth a try if you haven't had the pleasure of dining here.

great place, my only regret was i couldn't eat all if the wonderful food i had ordered... so good, i had the perch & it was awesome, the fried mushrooms are the best i have ever had & the baked mac n cheese was very good, yes i highly recommend this place

vintage detroit style pizza. pizza is far and away my favorite food and i am a big fan of detroit style pizzas. the real detroit power trio is comprised of buddy's, loui's and cloverleaf. years ago, i liked sal's and shield's but not so much anymore. loui's is the richest and most dense and a pizza for those damn the torpedoes types who smoke unfiltered cigarettes, buddy's might be the least dense and rich and cloverleaf is right in the middle. don't ask me which is best of these three because it depends on how much i want to indulge. look no further than these three for detroit style pizza benchmarks. my only criticism is the cheese bread because it's sweet and i think that clashes.

i was back in the detroit area today and haven't eaten here in seven or eight years and the pizza rocked my world. i always cry about the pizza in my new hometown of grand rapids and this is why. nothing's changed.

now, this is pizza!. i need to start these comments with a disclaimer: the pizza i selected for a lunch with my daughter and dear grandson came from the bar's buffet steam table. that being said, i believe this is the very best pizza i've tasted from a detroit area pizza maker. better (to me) than buddy's, dan good, detroit style pizza, et al.

i will return and drag others with me, to wait the 28 minutes it takes for the kitchen to prep, bake and serve one of their regular pizza offerings. its just that good.

our server was friendly, kind and efficient. another plus to a nice lunch experience.

this is my goto place for pizza the food is authentic the pizza is great the breadsticks they bring to your table or something out of your dreams. my 1 piece of advice is that the wait staff isn't as nice as they should be and the wait staff reflect your business.'

we were there last week and got spoiled food. pasta was rancid. manager never even came to table. confronted him on way out and he said he addressed it with the kitchen and tossed the pasta. not much of a manager! will never return. place has been going downhill for years.

nice family dining. there pizza is exceptional. the pasta dishes are wonderful, either menu offers or create your own. it's all so good and hard to choose which to choose.

best macaroni and cheese ever!

wonderful service. on thursday jan 12,2012 our group came to cloverleaf after searching halls for my daughter's wedding. our server linda was on top of things making our visit a comfortable and enjoyable one. i would come back age as the food was delicious and everyone must try the crunchy bread.

dinner buffet. we came here for lunch and sunday and saw the dinner buffet and decided to try it. the pizza was fantastic. the meatballs were great and i loved their pasta. i would love to come back and try their food again. it was a great value. the one thing that confused me was their cheese bread. it was sweet and it just didn't mix. it was like they need to do a cheese bread and then a sweet bread.

pretty good food. pizza is phenomenal. love the create your own pasta.

the cloverleaf square pizza is why you come!! it's great. the atmosphere is nothing special. but the pizza makes up for it.
