my wife and i have been going there since we moved into town a few years back. we love the food and really enjoy hanging out with our pooch in their outdoor seating. not many things better than eating a delicious burger, drinking great beer and watching the action downtown. love this joint!

bbq is first class. north carolina style ribs and pulled pork were both well received. the cobb salad was also very good. glad we found this place.

this pub goes up to 11. my company was kind enough to send me on a business trip to the bay area. after exhausting myself in meetings for what felt like an eternity, me and some of my colleagues needed some sustenance. i dropped in to find a local place with excellent scores on urbanspoon and found this spot. needless to say, i was really impressed.

what i really like about this place is that they're not really changing the great recipes. they take something you've eaten a thousand times before and just do it that little bit differently that makes you think you've never eaten it. an example was my appetizer: calamari strips. i couldn't even begin to count how many times i've had calamari, but just cutting the squid a bit different and serving it with excellent sauce just made it special. not to mention, they were cooked to absolute perfection.

and it's no aberration. my colleagues felt the same way with their dishes. as an entree i had the smoked chicken alfredo, another example of the twist. alfredo...been there, done that. throw some smoked chicken in there and i forgot about every alfredo i'd ever had. i can't wait for another boring week of meetings at our menlo office so i can come back.

nice beer selection too, but that may just be my salt lake city goggles talking. ha!

k and i visited city pub last night. first time for both of us and we were pleasantly surprised at the cleanliness of the establishment and the friendly staff and wait staff. it was about 10pm and the pub wasn't packed by any means nor was it a ghost town. k had a pear cider and i had a glass of water and we both shared some cheesy garlic bread to start. two hot and hefty slices of bread with three distinct areas of hot liquid magma cheese on each. i think it was parmesan, cheddar, and molten lava mozzarella. if not, i'll correct this later. k ordered the baby back ribs with a salad with raspberry vinaigrette and i ordered the city pub bacon cheese (swiss) burger, medium-rare, with wedge cut parmesan fries. the ribs were almost fall-off-the-bone good and the sauce was excellent! salad was good with the tasty dressing. the burger was cooked perfectly with everything on the side except for the mayo and i could separate the tastes of the burger, bacon, and cheese very easily with every bite. we both ate half to save room for desert. for dessert we ordered the old fashioned chocolate cake, heated, and the snicker's pie. the waiter suggested we have the cake heated, then have raspberry sauce poured onto it and top with whipped cream. to avoid an unavoidable meg ryan - when harry met sally moment we decided to just have it heated... okay if you must... me: "i'll have the old fashioned chocolate cake, heated, and i would like raspberry sauce instead of chocolate if you have it and if the whipped cream isn't fresh and out of a can then nothing." waiter: "not even the cake?" me: "no, just the cake but then not heated." waiter now irritated: "uh huh..." the staff wasn't pushy about throwing us out or anything but they made us feel like welcome patrons from the community. very nice touch. we would definitely return again and again.
