im a citizen. very stylish restaurant that is much needed in the culinary desert of scottsdale. the fondue was very good (how do you make a bad one??) but could have used more dipping items. the chop salad is also very good, but wont fill you up. the lamb burger alone is worth a trip back. not too greasy and perfect seasoning. negatives? happy hour is not worth a trip ..$2 off ..big deal! this was evidenced by an almost empty restaurant. i know this group has deep pockets so i think they will survive the long summer, but why not offer a decent happy hour and get your employees working and making $$$??

i went to citizen public house to celebrate a birthday. the ambiance and service here are outstanding. we started off by sharing the fondue - it was good, but underwhelming. next we shared the chop salad which was exceptional, i loved that it came out deconstructed and was mixed and dressed by our server at the table. for the main course i had the meatloaf and my fellow diner had the scallops. i had immediate envy for the scallops and they tasted as good as they looked. the meatloaf was good for a few bites, but then it was just too heavy and did not seem well seasoned or flavorful.

great food please visit but..... first of all chef bernie kantak is one of the young chef icons of our area. his work with cowboy ciao et al was famous. he is only continuing his culinary growth at his fine establishment.
i have recommended cph to friends and will continue to do so and will go back again.
ok we ate at cph twice and found the food and service great. wonderful flavors, innovative items like "tender belly' pork belly pastrami rye spaetzle, brussels sprout sauerkraut" good service and tactful plating's.
so my only knock is the pricing. i thought it was a bit pricy overall. ok i will sound wishy washy here, but we did walk away satisfied with the meal, it's just that it would not be this first place i would think of for a bite when out and about.
if the review on gayot wants to say cph is trying to fill a "modern demand for reasonably priced comfort food" is all well and good but reasonable? well to each wallet i guess. over the top pricing? no not at all either.
a few of the reviews here mention that there were only a few tables full which our experiences was as well. i really want the place to survive; chef owned, non nationwide restaurants is what we need more of. (that's not to say that there aren't some of those larger eateries that are worthy). so was it slow there because of the pricing, who knows?

i had read that citizen public house was known for its drinks and has been recognized by esquire, thrillist, zagat, and usa today.it's located in a beautiful area of scottsdale, which we walked around and took in the beauty of this area. it's different from the mountains of home but beautiful in its own way.we had the whole gang at this dinner, so that was exciting.i ordered - i think - one of my most favorite drinks i've ever had: socialite - honeydew absolut vodka, baked cranberry shrub,

after a long day and being hungry for hours we decided to grab some dinner. it quickly turned into finding a cool new spot, as we are not only picky for quality but also very into wine and craft cocktails. after receiving our cocktails and some bread my appetite went down a bit and i ordered the watermelon and beet salad. there was also cucumber in it, and i requested it without cheese. i was very happy with the taste of it, and my husband's venison was very good as well. overall a great place, but i think they should ditch the paper table covers....

i have been here twice and loved it both times. the original cobb is to die for- so yummy and the crunchy corn in it just makes it extra special. i had the scallops and the bread pudding- they are delicious. great drinks and also have a great happy hour. i will go back again and again...!

a great spot for a drink after work or a full dinner! happy hour drink specials are great, the service is excellent, and the food is delicious. there's not much more you can ask for in a place like this!

another awesome night!. for anyone who has not had the pleasure of meeting sam or having him as a server you are really missing out. friday night was my second opportunity to have sam help me at dinner and once again he made the meal a memorable pleasure. he picked all of the food and drink for our table, we never even looked at a menu. the pairings were exquisite, food was delicious and sam was amazing as always. do yourself a favor and go to cph for dinner and see if you can be lucky enough to have sam help you out.

we had a party of 8. the food was exceptional. our server, gina, was extraordinarily professional. she was able to take all of our orders at one time without writing them down, including appetizers, and delivered them exactly correct. only disappointment was that food was brought out plate by plate over a period of time . it would have been much more professional to serve all guests at the same time. hopefully, this was an anomaly. backround noise made but very difficult to carry on a conversation. we would, however, highly recommend this restaurant to anyone.

tasty, good service but loud. the thai margaritas were delicious. my boyfriend had the short ribs and found them filling, delicious. he was a bit surprised by the spiciness. i had the greens salad which was perfect. i also had the grilled cheese which had mashed potatoes in it. now i understand they wanted to provide a new twist on classic winter comfort food, but i think the mashed potatoes didn't work well in the sandwich. it detracted from the bread and cheese combination rather than adding something to the dish. the service was exceptional, and the food came out quickly. the place is loud. great for a group of friends but not a first date!

great "comfort" dinner. i stopped in alone for a quick dinner, hoping for something a bit different. i was not disappointed. the crispy chicken gizzards were a great starter. i always have to try meatloaf, knowing it can be hit or miss. this hit was a deep fly to the gap. not quite out of the park but an easy triple.

delicious and inventive. we had a delicious two course meal - no clue about the desserts because we had no room left to try.

i had the crab cakes with celery root slaw for an appetizer and my husband had the pork belly pastrami - rich but beautifully seasoned.

for the entree i had the seared scallops but asked to have the sweet potato hash instead of grits. the three huge scallops were nicely seared (not overdone), the greens were tasty but a bit stringy (hard to cut) and the hash was a knockout (i'm not a fan of grits which was the starch on the menu for that dish).

my husbands' shortribs were tender and tasty and the very tart cherry bbq sauce was a great contrast with the richness of the ribs. the parsnip puree was smooth and simply seasoned (i love parsnips). we shared tastes of each other's meals, so these are my views. my husband downed everything and was particularly taken with the pork belly pastrami.

if we lived here we'd definitely be back :)
