cibo wine bar coral gables

hip with flaws. cibo is one of the “hip and happening” restaurants in coral gables. yes that also means that it is noisy.
the food is good, not fantastic, the décor is modern and comfortable.

what is wrong with this place is the management. the front of the house is completely incompetent, running around like headless chicken; i watched 2 hostesses and the manager not have any plan or success how to deal with waiting people, most of which had reservations.
there are a lot of busboys, but too few waiters. we had to wait forever for: drinks, giving the order, refills of the drinks, ordering desert, getting the check, paying.

i would go back on a wednesday night when the restaurant should be more empty, but never on a friday or saturday.

non existent service, rude waiters pretending to be charming complaining to management wont help so don't bother,
we are locals and have given the restaurant numerous chances and still no improvement.

miami spice not so nice. we had a party of eight and were going to order the spice menu, however we wanted to try some if the recommended appetizers but were told that if we were going to use the spice menu we could not order any other dish. it's a shame the waiter was not flexible. at the end of our meal, he offered some lenoncillo but returned and advised us the bar tender drank the last of it.

better customer service would have been to allow us to order more items from the menu and subsitute the lemoncillo for another after dinner drink.

perhaps the establishment believes the spice menu, does not bring in repeat customers. but we enjoy the miami spice event every year to do our group dinner and try out new places.

needs better customer service. however the dishes were excellent. cannot take away from that!

great appetizers but that's all we got because our waitress suddenly developed vision problems and could no longer see us waving her down to order our meal. don't come here hungry or
in a hurry because you'll be seriously disappointed. and for god'a sake don't ask the waitress to take your picture!!

what a great italian place. this was an amazing meal. i highly recommend their happy hour, which is even on weekends. the service is fantastic and there is a violinist who plays for you while get your wine bottle. please check it out!

fabulous food, drink, service and atmosphere. must try the miami spice menu. delicious and big portions. the best deal in town!! kudos to manager luca and cibo wine bar!!

to sum up cibo wine bar, i would dub it as an italian sports bar for the sophisticated. although elegantly decorated, it still remained rustic at heart.

as soon as i walked into cibo i could see the craftsman ship that went into this restaurant. it looks like old italy meets modern day. it's a must see. the food hits home. being born in italy and currently living in toronto, the food that was served at cibo was amazing. the best pizza and pasta i've had in a long time. this restaurant is a must for all italian food lovers.

amazing food, great atmosphere. first let me put it out there, cibo is an absolutely amazing restaurant. as someone who usually sticks with ordering menu favorites, i find myself so torn every time i look over the menu that i always order something different than i did the time before. you can't go wrong with pasta as an entree- they're homemade, flavorful, and unique while maintaining some traditional flavors. i've done the pappardelle with lamb ragu, fettucine with shrimp/pesto/mascarpone, and carbonara with pancetta/egg yolk and loved each. the pizzas are great too, with a crispy crust and good topping combinations. for starters, the beef carpaccio is delicate and delicious, but you could always do without given that complimentary bread and seasoned olives are served.

as others have mentioned, the happy hour gets busy, but that should be expected. who doesn't want a great 2-for-1 beer/wine deal after a long day of work? as for the pours on the wine, they are definitely sufficient. like any (respectable) restaurant, you're not going to get wine topped off to the brim of the glass- no one wants to see their purple-lipped patrons knee walking out of the restaurant after partaking in two 2-for-1 deals. the atmosphere otherwise is great, with nice lighting, music, and friendly, attentive staff.

the portions are enormous, especially considering that the cost of everything is in the mid-teens.

big love for cibo. while visiting coral gables last tuesday we dined with friends at their new favorite restaurant cibo wine bar.

we arrived around 6pm and the place was almost full! we were greeted warmly by the maitre'd (who immediately recognized our friends and shook all of our hands) and hostess who seated us at a cozy booth. our super friendly waiter took our wine order and returned quickly with our wine and some warm bread and spicy olives. what great service! we shared some polenta fries, caprese salad and a capricciosa pizza (all yummy!!). the pizza was exceptional!

we all ordered the tuesday lobster special. what a steal at $20! for a whole lobster and perfect al dente linguine! i wanted to lick the plate!

fantastic ambience and overall great experience! will definately be returning when we are back in coral gables again! a 5 star experience!

we were a party of 4 and we all had to return our food, it was very bland and tasteless. the manager sat with us and looked at the wine list and ordered a bottle of wine, we thought it was a nice gesture until we got the bill for $ 150.00 for the $10.00 wine. nice looking place but worst in miami and the rest of the world.

cibo wine bar. i've been to this place 4 or 5 times since they opened sometime last year in coral gables. most recently last week. i've seen some of the reviews from people that obviously weren't that pleased but honestly, i've only ever had great experiences at this restaurant (even when they were very busy). been with family, friends and even a business dinner and the service was excellent. staff very attentive, organized and friendly. for true authentic italian cuisine (not just another italian restaurant) this place is it!
i'll be going back again for sure and i would highly recommend this gem of a place to anyone who is looking for great food and an excellent atmosphere at a good price.
