ma chi cazzo!!! sad to say but don't waste your money here. if your an american then you won't know the difference so go ahead. if your italian/ romano then don't go here. it's over priced for what they offer.

urban spoon - you let me down!. i was looking for a romantic italian restaurant in burbank for a sunday night "first date". i truly wanted to impress my date. not being from the area i consulted urban spoon. i had previously been to prosecca and it had been excellent, but it is closed on sunday. based on the reviews i selected ciao cristina. i really don't want to dump on the place, but it's obvious their proximity and convenience to the warner bros studio has more to do with their success than their food, service or ambiance. there was only one server working and she seemed overwhelmed although there were only 4 or 5 tables of people there. the decor was.......undescribeable. it's simply old, dated and diner like. the noted rolls tasted old/stale and the lasagne was basically a lot of cheese and noodles with little meat or red sauce. based on the urban spoon reviews i read i expected a lot more. absolutely no comparison to prosecco. i might stop in for a quick lunchtime pizza or a snack if i am at the warner bros studio, but it's not a date restaurant. not clear i am going to be able to recover from this one with my lady friend.

must try italian .... i went to ciao cristina to try something different because of the positive reviews on the web. i took along by gourmet chef son as well because he's impossible to please and so he's good for an objective opinion.

i liked the fact that he said the quality of the ingredients was clearly much higher than the prices would normally allow. in particular, he thought the porcini mushroom ravioli might cost as much to make as they were charging for it. maybe they're in business as a public service.

everything i've had here in several visits was unusually good. eye-brow-raising good. that's why i called this: "must try italian" ... it's definitely worth a visit.

if i were a local regular, i'd want want a more extensive wine selection. i'm also a fan of specialty beers, and though they have a lots of beer on tap that gets first class care, the choices are not what i would call 'adventurous'. it's now my preferred place in la to get "arrogant bastard" and guinness.

also, if you want want a standard pizza just like you get at one of the big chains, you need to specify it from the 'build your own' list of ingredients. the pizzas listed the menu are just the 'true italian' ones ... you have to make an effort to get something more 'american italian'.

service ... well, it's authentically italian :-). pretty good much of the time, not so good others. if you want to be treated like the queen of england, you'll be disappointed.

i see this as a real one-of-a-kind neighborhood place ... old world ... comfortable.
