chili basil thai grill

the food was ok - the service was mediocre. my water glass sat empty for the majority of the meal as the waitress was too busy doing her homework to actually wait on us. it was disappointing.

my wife and i stopped here for lunch.  i was planning on ordering a thai ice coffee, but they were out so i had a thai ice tea instead.  it was good.  i had pad kee mao with chicken, 2-star, to eat and it was very good and just right for spicing.  my wife had swimming rama with chicken and it was also very good.  service was good and we would come back.

one in a million. chili basil has definitely surpassed my expectations of fast and affordable food on capitol hill. the dishes are absolutely delicious and the atmosphere is well thought out. the staff is extremely friendly and helpful. i absolutely love this place and so will you!

wonderful!. chili basil thai is a great find. the restaurant is small, clean, comfortable, and has great service and food. we told our server how much we loved our meals and he said, "thanks. i'll tell my mom". loved the response, and love that it's a family restaurant. enjoyed a sampler of appetizers, then green curry for dinner. can't say enough good things about our visit that night, and we look forwarding to returning soon.

as a chef in the nw i like to think i know good thai food. the massaman curry here was solid. don't pass them up because they're in a strip mall.

don't go if you have kids without a plaster around their mouths.. this review is not about food.. but about a very bad experience i had..i have been to this restaurant several times and wanted to take my family there. we went there today and i am not going back ever again.

my 20 month old son was a little fuzzy and he made noises and a scream or two before settling in. i admit he was loud..but after that he was quiet and had his food without making any noise. on our way out, a guy who appeared to be the owner, came running behind us and wanted to talk.. these are his exact words "we apprecite your business..your son was screaming....we have kids.. but we can't allow this kind of behavior in the restaurant." ...
i asked them to put a sign board in th front saying that kids are not welcome and that he just lost our business...

i was shocked because the same guy was shouting in chinese (may be talking) to the guests sitting next to us and he did not think it was problem. anyways, if that guy cannot accommodate a baby, i don't think he deserves to be dealing with the public.. i am not sure if some other guest in the restaurant complained, but he did not mention anything like that.. so i take it that only he had issues ...
i am not going back .. and i will try to discourage any friend who is going there..

good food. i waited a while for my take-out (10 min wait even though i called in for 10 mins in advance), but overall good marks. i love my phad thai spicy, there's was not spicy enough despite asking for more. if anyone knows of a spicy thai place in the seattle that makes food with a real kick, let me know, i haven't found a place around here in a while.

drunken noodle, wet noodle. i was not impressed with their drunken noodle, it lacked flavor in a dish usually filled with various flavors.
