chicago joe's restaurant

bad night at chicago joe's. i take no pleasure in passing along this news, but last night's dining experience at chicago joe's was a total disaster. until then, chicago joe's was one of our favorite offbeat places to eat. we often took out of towners there for the non-strip experience.

i can only assume they've had a change in ownership, management, chef, or all three of those variables since we last dined there in late march. again, i have no axe to grind with this place, but last night's food was inexcusably bad. they've managed to screw up the meat sauce and my favorite dish, lasagna. my wife ordered chicken marsala only to discover that marsala is apparently an italian word that means horrible. she managed to get about two bites down and left the rest swimming in a suspicious watery brown sauce. another dinner guest ordered chicago joe's shrimp, and quickly declared, "this is the worst shrimp i've ever eaten." (and she used to be a flight attendant, so you know it took some doing to establish a new benchmark for bad shrimp.)

i should mention, the place was packed when we walked in at 7 pm and was still crowded when we escaped a little after eight -- $115 poorer and borderline nauseous. so who knows, maybe everyone else enjoyed a great meal. or, it's under new management and they ran a groupon to bring in new blood... most likely to replace the people who used to like the place.

i am truly sorry about being so negative. i hope more people comment and i hope the mgt responds to the negative comments in a positive way, while there's still time to salvage their reputation and their business.

this is what i think of when i think of an italian restaurant! cozy, delicious, and full of charm!! do not miss out, go here if you go no where else in vegas!!;

very disappointed - not good and horrible value. this used to be one of our favorites in las vegas - we haven't been here in several years and were so disappointed. we made a reservation over a week ago and they stuck us at a table pushed against the fireplace - we literally had to move the table every time we got in/out of our chairs - they had plenty of tables available - it's not like they were booked and we just showed up. it got worst - the food was bad - dry chicken with no flavor and red sauce that tasted like it was from a jar - i've had better from a jar! service was coldly efficient. our dinner was $75 and we didn't enjoy it - olive garden would have been better! don't waste your money - there are so many good italian restaurants in vegas - skip this disappointment!!

our worst meal in vegas. who are you people who rave about this awful place? an "italian" restaurant using dry pasta?!? we've been coming to vegas for over a decade, multiple trips a year. we come in part for the food. we cherish each meal. two locals insisted we come here, so we took their advice (after checking on line). people, don't be fooled by the hype. frozen factory chicken, bottled dressing, dry poor quality pasta, greasy half cooked entrees (our mains came with pasta side which we left uneaten). there is nothing nice we can say about this place....except, i suppose the interesting house where it is located. truly an abomination.....how it got "power lunch" awards is beyond our ability to comprehend. i would be too embarrassed to bring any client here. this is a sucker bet for vegas eaters....i can't find the words to express how disappointed we were.

delicious, small little old house, but best pasta i've had in a long time.

the food! the atmosphere! the service! they could never improve upon the perfection they have attained! have been here several times and will continue to come back!

total hype about this place. the bread is simple and easy to avoid. the only high note was the salad it actually was quite tasty. the artichoke was horrendous! tasted like a frozen product taken to term via a microwave. the chicken angelo was terrible. small " fajita" like pieces of chicken very poor show. out of the party of four only one of us enjoyed the meal. save your money on this ripoff joint!

literally some of the best italian in town. so legitimate that the whole restaurant smells like my great grandmothers kitchen.

authentic. just like having dinner at my aunt's house...great food served in an intimate setting with 30 people...if you are looking for fancy...forgetaboutit...if you want an interesting experience, good food and your wine in a water glass visit this is the place...did i mention my wife and i were out the door for 60 bucks?

a local off strip italian joint in a humble home with commercial neighbors. the gravy (sauce), homemade daily compliments the veal and chicken dishes to perfection. hint: choose the soup, pasta fazole and add a meatball over the salad with your meal. wine served in small water glasses is great.

lunch is the best time. the portions are quite generous and quality is not spared. my absolute favorite dish here is the baked ziti, the plate is nice and hot w/ a wonderful melted mozzerella over the ziti crusted perfectly along the edges. my mouth waters just thinking about how much i miss this dish.

delicious. i'm italian and grew up with a mother and grandmother who made fantastic italian food. chicago joe's comes the closest to my mother's and grandmother's authentic sicilian cooking. when i visit las vegas, i love having a meal at chicago joe's. it reminds me of the food i grew up with.

great food. we always stop here when in vegas. great food and cozy place. small town feel. we love it. thanks folks. well done.

dim lights, sinatra serenading. claret on the glass, warm home-made bread, mushroom cap scargotts, eggplant parmigiana. intimate, and romantic.--a cozy local spot getaway. --not what you expect to find in flashy, loud, fastpace-commercial-las vegas. find yourself at home.

chicago who??. i went to chicago joes on the suggestion of a friend and was totally disappointed. i found it to be a very disorganized place with unknowledgable service staff and horrible food. there are better italian restaurants with friendlier prices! i suggest gambling on a different place while eating out in las vegas..
