food good, atmosphere pleasant. with the exception of a couple of snappish responses while ordering at the counter, the experience was very good. each of the eight people in our group had a different dish, and almost all were impressed. the eggs bennie were tasty, the french toast was cooked just right (although it was found to be too large a portion, not necessarily a bad thing), the mennonite sausage and corned beef hash were declared very good, and the bacon and eggs with the fried yam mixture (yam, onion, peppers) were delicious and cooked just right. the omelet looked very generous, and was good. the blueberry buttermilk pancakes were tasty, and were completely polished off. the breakfast sandwich was also demolished, although the egg in it was not runny as ordered. the only questionable item was the blintzes -- the cottage cheese was thought to be a little off, but it was mostly eaten. the coffee was very good, and the mighty leaf teas are the best. the system of ordering at the counter feels a little awkward, and it seems that each table needs to be told about it, along with the specials. perhaps a prominent note on the menus as well as clearer signs would be helpful. also, many of us missed picking up our cutlery on our way back to the table after ordering -- perhaps it should be a little more obvious, say beside the order counter. all in all, it was an excellent choice for breakfast for a group. everyone found something they liked on the menu, and it wasn't too noisy for conversation across the table for the whole group. we would go again.
