found this place with the help of urbanspoon. loved it! the primo flatbread paired with the rioja was a perfect lunch. the cheeseboard is plentiful and a great value. the cheese, of course, was outstanding. wish i lived closer.

french onion soup. the baked french onion soup is very good, generously portioned with cheese that is baked on to perfection.

love the wine charms!!. great staff, good food. compared to other restaurants in the area that have high priced food and bad service but think they are hip, this is the real deal. the staff knows their stuff too. i love all of the stuff to create a great party at home as well. they have the cutest wine charms too--wax nostalgic charms. you can actually remember which glass is yours because they are familiar characters!

very popular place. we were 8 on a holiday week on a monday and got in no problem. we were all getting combinations of mac and cheese or toasted cheese sandwiches and soup. all were satisfied. i'm wasn't wowed but it was a nice evening and service was very nice. worth a visit.

small and kinda cramped on the saturday afternoon that we stopped in to shop for burrata and bleu cheeses .
the small cafe in the back of the store had a table available so we had lunch to tide us over for shopping in the area until our evening dinner.
items ordered:
burrata appetizer - delicious
lobster mac - so-so
house salad

most places like this are wine shops that also sell cheese. cheesetique is a cheese shop that also sells wine. the iberian ham is a curiosity (and $100/lb!), but get the italian san daniele prosciutto instead. it is far better and a quarter the price.

this was the perfect meal to heal a case of the mondays, not much is more comforting then grilled cheese and soup. the food was very good and the server was knowledgeable-both things we picked he listed as his favorites on the menu. portions were very hearty, i was full after my sandwich and ended up taking my soup to go. not only are they a delicious restaurant, they are also a wine and cheese shop with an awesome cheese selection and gourmet goods.

what do you get when you cross a fancy cheese store with a restaurant/wine bar  awesomeness.  cheesetique in del ray (second location in shirlington) is unadulterated awesomeness. cheesetique is sort of like a restaurant mullet: business in the front and party in the back.  first, the serious part: the cheese shop/gourmet grocery store.   they have a huge selection of cheese and accompaniments (jams, jellies, chocolate, wine, etc.).  we had a blast browsing while waiting for our table in the back of the restaurant. that brings me to the party half of the restaurant mullet: the wine bar/cafe behind the cheese shop.  they have a full menu of cheeselicious goodies from grilled cheese to cheese plates and everything in between. with the help of our friendly waitress, we ordered a bottle of wine and a sampling of plates to share with our friends.  we ended up ordering nearly everything on the small plates menu (burrata, carpaccio, caprese, crostini, flat bread), a grilled cheese, and a chee

all aspects of this gourmand experience was great, except the quote on the wait for a table, off by double the quotes time of 45 minutes. of course they are prompt on refills of your wine while waiting,$$$$? wtf?

a specialty cheese boutique as well a cheese and wine restaurant, cheesetique has been a hang-out staple in the del ray neighbourhood it has resided in since early 2008.

freakin' good cheese!. over the last year, we've eaten at cheesetique more than once a month. quality of food is very good; service is super; atmosphere fun and casual. the cheese mongers really know their products and are eager to give samples and make suggestions, no matter how busy it is. excellent place to grab a bottle of wine, cheese, fresh breads, and everything else you need for a picnic, dinner on the floor in the den, or impressing the foodies in your life. a must-do for our out-of-town guests, who always leave giddy :)

you don't look a day over 4. by an odd confluence i arrived at cheesetique during it's 5th anniversary as well as 1st thursday which seems to be a monthly block party in del ray a festive dog and stroller driven celebration. i came for cheese course after lunch down the street at evening star. i wish i had come here for lunch.

i had a cheese and charcuterie plate having already eaten, however the sandwiches, quiches and other plates looked much better: prepared with fresh ingredients and lots of smiles. the glass wines were acceptable for the limited menu and the service was great especially how harried the staff was with the multiple celebrations. i even got a tiny cupcake at the end.

the cheese case was wonderous. much better than whole foods, balducci's or even calvert woodley. my only complaint is that i wish more of the case cheeses were available for the tasting menu.

i will return to this slightly funky part of alexandria for more wine and cheese at this gem.

cheese cheese everywhere. it's small and quaint with a nice neighborhood feel and as you'd expect the cheese selection is good. for a few buck you can make you're own board where you can chose from a small selection of cheese and charcuterie. the wine selection is pretty good and while the menu is limited, the two entrees i tried (the street cleaner sandwich and mozzarella & pesto ciabatta) were both good. i look forward to going back and trying the grown-up grilled cheese.

great service, humboldt fog and cornichons. wouldn't change a thing save the weird pale dutch chick who awkwardly hits on my fiance. :)

even before i started writing about cheese for dcfoodies, elizabeth and i had fallen in love with cheesetique. located on del ray’s mount vernon avenue, it’s a great place to find all kinds of exotic and familiar cheeses from around the world. it’s where
