casper's famous hot dogs

casper's with a c for me.. the taste has never changed for me in the last 40 or so years. started off with dad driving out to oakland to pick up casper dogs, when they opened in albany sometime in the early to mid 70's we went there, i've eaten at their stores in richmond and san pablo too. so happy when we moved to the valley that we had one reasonably close by. i always get one or two casper dogs with everything which consists of mustard, relish, onions and tomato. their dogs have the perfect snap when you bite into them and the buns are almost always perfectly steamed, more often than not. add on a bag of cheetos and a rootbeer and i am good to go. my family has a penchant for their enchiladas which they burry in grated cheddar cheese. when i have a hankering for a dog, you will find me and mine at caspers with a c.

i really love the casper hot dogs that you get in the store, espically barbqed but the way they cook the hot dogs at there chain locations makes me never want to eat casper again. i think this is due to the fact that they don't cook them on the bbq and instead cook the another way. take my advice, go to the store, buy some casper hot dogs, take them home and bbq them. avoid this place at all cost or else you may get a bad impression of caspers.

a bay area classic. 2 double dogs with everything please! just a light afternoon snack for me! :)

luckily this is only a bay area chain so i don't have to share with the rest of the country. they always get the good food so it's about time i get mine. this is the hot dog i grew up on and it's the best i have ever had. it's all about the snap. some don't like the snap in the hot dog once they find out it' the casing but that is what makes casper's one of a kind. i can honestly say i have never found anything as good as casper's. well there is kasper's but it is very similar since it is a family thing but use a different recipe because of a riff back in the day.

each and every time they are made fast and to order. the produce is always cut fresh with each order as well. each regular dog comes with freshly cut tomatoes and onions, mustard and relish in a featherlight, steamed bun. oh how i love this soft steamed bun. i like to throw on the extras and cheddar cheese, sauerkraut, pickles and jalapenos. oh i know what i'm having for lunch today!
