best ribs, best pulled pork, best bbq period. i went to college in sc where people pride themselves on their bbq and as a result i thought i knew what good bbq was. i know now that i was young and naive ;) carter que is the best bbq i have had in maryland, sc, and everywhere in between. the black raspberry sauce is one of a kind and always a good choice; thick and sweet but not overpowering.
things i really like are:
the pulled pork. other places in maryland seem to over do the vinegar in the pork and as a result everyone seems to like drenching it in sauce. carter que servers the pork "dry" with some sauce on top (you can add more of course). the result is a smoky goodness that highlights perfectly done meat instead of sugary sauce.
the brisket. thick cut and fall apart good. best bbq brisket.
and finally: the ribs. i cannot say enough about them as they are simply amazing. what really sets them apart from other places is the shear amount of meat on them. unlike other restaurants, carter que serves theirs with the massive slag of meat on the top (or outside) of the ribs still attached. the result is the meatiest ribs i have ever had. you can order them with a dry rub or with sauce. the dry rub is excellent.

while we liked this place overall, there was nothing special about the food. the chicken in my salad was formed patty meat, not chicken breast. the barbecue sauce (sweet and tangy i think) was extremely average as were the side dishes of baked beans and potato salad. the kids meals were served in a frisbee which is fun.

holy tastebuds!! the crab dip is sooo creamy and amazing! with chunks of crab and super cheesy! my family, including the kids woofed it down! service was polite and attentive. let me tell you... i'm from texas... i have eaten bbq probably weekly for almost 30 years all over the country... the brisket is off the charts good!! super moist and tender! had with raspberry bbq sauce. the cornbread... is indescribable! it id different than any other cornbread i have had! it taste wonderful, but the texture is closer to a dense cake... sweet and not even close to being dry! the kids meals are served on frisbees! they get to keep and take home! how cool is that?

great bbq and a solid beer selection. i really like it here, it's got fantastic bbq and they ususally have flying dog on tap. good value for the money, best bbq around.

went with the wife today,ordered breakfast burger,pulled pork sandwich and they were awesome! got the que balls as appetizers best meatballs ever had! desert was funnel sticks and they were great also. food and service was exceptional. would definately go back again.

fantastic bbq. the catfish basket is very good. try the trickles for a tasty treat.

delicious. went on a sunday afternoon, crowded so we sat at the quiet bar, staff very nice and friendly. we liked everything we tried! loved the funnel fries, they don't need a sauce.
