great food and responsive service. an excellent experience last night. the food (pecan encrusted trout and chicken sandwich) were both very tasty recipes and well prepared. and service, while a bit different, ie, our waiter was not the one caring for our every need, but instead about 5 different people handles different elements and all staff was responsive to whatever we needed and got us in and out in time to make the show. oh, and the decor was beautiful also.

everything we ordered was absolutely delicious...even a simple chicken sandwich was full of flavor and perfectly cooked. went for brunch and will be back for dinner sometime very soon!!

really enjoyed the salad i had ($14) and my husband loved his lamb chops ($28). unless you are a seafood lover, there aren't many options here. what we got was very good though.

reliably good food. i've never had a bad meal at carlyle. and the service is always great. love everything on the menu.

i have had amazing amazing service every time i have gone. it's sad they don't have their lamb chops anymore :( they were the most amazing lamb chops i had ever had.
all the servers are very nice and attentive. the only problem i have with this place is how loud it can get. some families bring their small children, and it can get annoying. the appetizers are delicious- we always get a mixed plate of them (crab fritters yummm)
it is a bit pricey, but it's worth it!

isn't #1. while i enjoy eating @ carlyle (mostly for lunch), i do not understand how this restaurant has attained a number 1 rating. we are generally not disappointed when eating at carlyle, which is one of the several restaurants run by great american restaurant group in northern va. with so many restaurants in the dc metro area, i wouldn't rate this so high.

super reliable, great food. this is the place we go when we get tired of mediocre meals in other restaurants. great salads; creative sunday brunch menu; pretty good fish and chips; great lobster rolls. we've been there many dozens of times, and basically never have had a disappointing meal. very attentive staff.

excellent restaurant!. i have been to this restaurant many times and received excellent service! today's brunch was the best. the food was great, they had wonderful bread for the table (carrot and walnut, and fried fritter-like things) and our server (preston) was cheerful, attentive and great at attending our needs. the decor is fun, and the noise level at any time is not loud. i would very much recommend this restaurant!

i'm not really sure why tplaveate any criticisms of this place.they're quite consistent w their varied menu which is an incredible value for the $. they've got pretty great servic e, & are very willing to please& take care of their customers.if its not right or what u want they'll take care of you.sure my fish has come out overdone on occasion,but they're happy to fix the problem& usually make it up to you!

only ok. we keep coming here every once in a while for brunch hoping it is better than it is. the combinations of ingredients are a little too much sometimes; they tend to put together ingredients that overpower one another. for instance, they appear to use montreal steak seasoning on the steak in their steak benedict. very odd with hollandaise. i like the tex mex eggrolls ok but i have a hard time telling what is in them because there are too many ingredients to tell.

i like the scrambled eggs somewhat. i believe i have had other dishes, but they were not worth remembering. my wife and i enjoy going to original pancake house more.

service, while polite, is spotty esp. when they are exceedingly busy.

over the years, carlyle has created some of my all-time favorite dishes such as the shitake-crusted halibut in sweet and sour broth or hong kong-style sea bass. great service and great food without any puffery.
