newports breakfast nook. we went to cafe stephanie for a late breakfast, sometime around eleven am. initial impression was good, the place was very clean, and the wait staff very friendly. we were seated, and our drink orders were taken immediatly. there was no sticky residue on anything here, even the small jelly jar was quite clean. we had drinks and hot blueberry scones, which were delicious by the way, within 5 minutes of walking in. our hostess laid out the specials of the day, and the quiche sounded so good we both ordered it. it, along with refills of our darn good unsweet tea, was out within 10 min of our arrival. the quiche was light and fluffy, but substantial, and included chunks of ham, fresh mushroom, and tomato, and was well spiced and deliciously cheesy. a side of red potatoes, cooked in olive oil and topped with melted cheese and sour cream was good, but not particularly outstanding. my drink never ran dry, and the staff was very attentive. when the waitress was occupied with another couples order, the cook brought our potatoes to the table himself. all in all, an excellent dining experience, and very fairly priced for this little seaside town.
