the food was amazing the service was the worst i have ever had. they didn't make you feel welcome. if you have never had indian food before i would not suggest starting here because they will not help you figure out good fits for you. if you know what you like and have had indian food before may i suggest take out if you want to try their food. over all no matter how good the food, they will never get another penny of my hard earned money.

i'm surprised with some of these reviews.. overall, the meal was fair but i've had much better indian food. the chef special biryani was over the top with too many ingredients. the huge chunk of goat socket bone in the rice was especially unappetizing.

goat meat is a strong flavor if not cooked just right and the goat in our dish was very gamey and i don't recommend it!

naan's and kulcha was very good, paneer masala was good and so was the saag but the saag was a little on the bland side. i know this is petty but having the diners place their own leftovers into takeout containers on a small table doesn't work.

choices in cockeysville!. not a bad lunch buffet! a few less selections than india palace, but excellent quality. the kheer was thicker and more nuts than other places, great way to end the lunch. i'm disappointed that the buffet for lunch is $10 before tax and tip, other places that have more selection are a dollar or two less. and can anyone explain why they hack the bones up in the tandori chicken? half a chicken thigh? and it was a small chicken, too! but all indian restaurants seem to do it that way. servers don't speak much. the manager lady was in a much better mood the second time than the first, but they never brought the check to us either time. we just paid on the way out, but i'll go back.

this is the only place our family goes for indian food! the food is always delicious and the people who work there are friendly and helpful. the owners do a great job making every patron feel valued and appreciated.
from our 1 1/2 year old grandson to the 70+ year old grandfather, we all love cafe spice! don't waste your time going anywhere else for wonderful indian food.

wish there was a zero star option. this place serves hair in their dishes and the folks who own this place do not seem to care. we went there for a family dinner, and ordered naan with curry. my first naan had a long hair in it, so i politely asked the server to take that away and get me another one. i started eating my second naan with a lot of confidence, and guess what - i had a long thing hair strand in my mouth.. ehew! i called the owner and he did not seem to care! he told me he cannot see the hair [despite me trying to show it against a white background, as this hair was light colored]. the owner asked us to leave their place [our fault: we spotted hair in their food, not once but two times in two different orders of naan]. i will never recommend going here, unless you like eating human hair

owner is a big problem. on the surface the place may look nice but running the show is a large bellied gentleman name garish who is very questionable. i have had 2 run-ins with him. one was about splitting a $25 entree with my wife on a night when my wife chose to eat less after we had worked out. the owner actually asked a waitress to tell us to spend more. when i asked to talk to the owner he reluctantly came to our table and said we needed to spend more since he did not have a liquor license and needs to make it up somewhere. was this for real?
on another occasion he was generally unpleasant for no reason.
the way he talks to his staff is demeaning, too.
especially the females.
we eat out a lot and i have never taken the time to do a review but this guy deserves to have others boycott this place. i also understand that he also cooks so being his being "cheap" may lead to questionable behavior by him in the kitchen.
bad place.

horrible experience!. what a horrible experience!

we had read good reviews about this place and were excited to try it. i live in pennsylvania and my girlfriend lives in baltimore so we frequently meet the cockeysville area for dinner and enjoy a variety of ethnic foods.

we were promptly seated, given menus, water served ... a round of drinks and it was time to order. we ordered 2 appetizers to start and an order of naan.

a few minutes later, a man approached our table with the slip with our order on it. he was shaking it as us saying we needed to order dinner. i said we just ordered appetizers and were going to see about dinner. he insisted we had to order at least one entrée or we had to leave!!

i asked where it said that. it didn't say it on the door or the menu. he said it doesn't have to state it "i'm telling you. order an entrée or leave."

he was verbally abusive. it made quite a scene. other tables could see what he was doing.

i'm a working professional now, but spent many years working in restaurants while getting through college and i have never seen an owner mistreat his guests in such a way.

he said it was dinner time (8:00 p.m!) and that we should order dinner. we were not ready to order dinner. he said we were taking up a table and that he had others waiting who wanted to order dinner.

there was at least 3 open tables and no one waiting to be sat. we walked right in and were seated without any wait.

considering that restaurants make a higher profit on drinks, appetizers and desserts ... his attitude made no sense. when i worked in restaurants, my managers always liked when guests would order piles of appetizers instead of meals. they are quick and more profit!

what a sad experience.

wonderful indian food!. i was so glad to find cafe spice had moved from towson to their new location in cockeysville. it is beautifully decorated and the food is wonderful as always. i especially like their buffet brunches with a large variety of options. my favorites are the tandoori chicken and the chicken tikka masala. the service is always prompt and courteous.

my favorite, affordable indian restaurant in the baltimore metro area. the owner is a wonderful woman, always making sure the customers are happy. the food is richly flavorful and cooked with the perfect level of spiciness. i could go on and on and on about how much i love cafe spice, but you should really just try it yourself!

back again and still satisfied. well i said i would be back at cafe spice and i was 3 days later after visiting for the first time! today i tried the garlic naan and the gobi manchuri. the garlic naan was delicious! it had a very strong garlic flavor but the naan was tasty and moist. the gobi manchui was hands down the best indian appetizer i have ever tried! it was perfect! the deep fried califlower was crispy and buttery. the spicy garlic sauce on it was full of bold delicious flavors. the sauce was both sweet and savory. it reminded me a little of the bang bang shrimp at bonefish grille. the flavor and perfection of the dishes at cafe spice will definitely have me coming back for more. next time i'll take pictures before i devour the food :-)

the best indian food ever!. cafe spice is a very nice restaurant to visit! the food was very delicious as well as their mango lassi and chutneys. my date and i ordered the chicken vindaloo and the butter chicken. for those of you who have visited indian restaurants before i'm sure you know that usually you are able to adjust the spice in your dishes. however, at cafe spice the spices in their chicken vindaloo cannot be adjusted and it is their spiciest dish. i can usually handle spicy food but this dish was so spicy it was inedible to me. despite the overpowering spices in the dish the service was wonderful! cafe spice has the warm feeling of a mom and pop family restaurant. the owner of the restaurant personally came to my table to see if he could fix the problem of the spices in the chicken vindaloo. although the spices could not be adjusted the effort he gave to accommodate me was was refreshing. for anyone in the cockeysville area looking for a great restaurant with delicious food and excellent service, visit cafe spice. i will definitely be making another visit there.
