food is always good, service is friendly, atmosphere is quaint. we come here on sunday just about every week. breakfast is always good, with portion size more than enough

this place is a hidden gem! my family and i eat here frequently. if you're in the mood for some great southern cooking, this is the place for you. the wait is never that long and the staff members are all very friendly. if you're in the area and looking for a bite to it, this should be your destination!

first time here. nice atmosphere and menus with lots of choices for breakfast. hobo breakfast with the home potatoes, is awesome, a meal for sharing. the service was really good too. i will be back.

the food was good and friendly to the pocket. the service was excellent. i've been here many times and have been rarely disappointed. i would highly recommend to friends looking for a budget friendly breakfast.

tried for breakfast last weekend after recently moving nearby. i was pleasantly surprised. i had eggs and smoked sausage, which also came with hash browns and a biscuit. the sausage was very good and the rest was good as well. my girlfriend got the french toast. i took a bite and must say it's awesome. i was jealous. it was busy on a saturday morning and we received good service. i will be back to try their lunch.

everything a diner should be. never a problem here, the service is friendly, the food fresh, well prepared and the portion will always satisfy, never left cafe south hungry and the prices are very reasonable. i usually come in for breakfast or lunch and it has become my favorite place.

fried catfish is real good and i don't even like catfish! the rib-eye sandwich is a winner and i've never been disappointed with their burgers.

they also have a breakfast item on the menu called "hobo breakfast" it's super-fantastic-delicious and a sure-fire hang-over cure that even anthony bordain would approve of. (if you know who anthony bordain is, you should know what i mean!)

bottom line is cafe south is always a very solid choice because the people there actually care about what they do.

food is kind of bland, staff is about the same .. waste of caloric intake :(

ok and filling but a little like a retirement home taste

easy to find right off the interstate in an old friendly's or perkins building. my family had the turkey dinner, fried chicken, fried flounder and kids chicken tenders. all the food was well made with good flavor. all the sides were well done an the kids really enjoyed the mac and cheese. peach cobbler was huge and wife couldn't finish it. service was excellent. we'll stop here again on our way through charlotte.

awesome!! that's the best way to describe my experience from start to finish. the hostess was great and it didn't take long for our food to come. the food was amazing, i had breakfast and my hubby had a lunch special. they gave us more than enough in portion and never let our cup get empty. we will definetly be back!

local/fresh. this is the best family style restaurant in southwest charlotte! locally owned and clean. i have visited for breakfast and lunch. top notch food and service!

now that they've settled in. i must admit that after my first good review, we have been back to cafe south several times, and there are things i am seeing that are not so good.
several weeks ago, i brought my team in for lunch. we ordered the wings appetizer as well as our meal. the wings came with the meal, rather than before. i sent the food back, explaining that they should either keep the food warm or re make it until we are finished with our appetizer. the waitress came back and said the boss was very angry at her. not wanting to get her in trouble, we just accepted the food and let it get cold as we ate our wings.
the other day we went in and i ordered the talapia special. it was topped with cold salsa. as a matter of fact, the fish was also cold. the owner came over and offered to redo, but i was too tired to deal with it, so i just at the vegetables, and of course they took it off the bill.
when i was paying the bill, i suggested to the owner that he write on the board... "cold talapia with cold salsa".
my guests seem to enjoy their meal of stuffed cabbage.

terrific. the location for cafe south is great for us. walking distance from our office. this space was vacant for a long time, and we were hoping another restaurant would come in.
well, it did, and we are so glad.
the chicken wings are some of the best around. my crew loves the gyro, and i love the salmon salad.
they also do catering, which will make our clients very happy.
great friendly service. give this restaurant a chance to grow. i know they will do well

not bad... i stopped in this evening since this restaurant is right in front of the hotel so it was convenient and i was hungry.
they have a pretty extensive menu and the place is very clean.
i opted for the jumbo shrimp with a house salad and mashed potatoes and gravy as my sides.
the shrimp and salad were good,the mashed potatoes were instant potatoes..yuck!
i think if your going to charge $12 at least have the real deal and not potatoes from a box.
there is some delicious looking treats in the dessert case but i did not partake,

the staff were very friendly and my server was on the spot.
