omelette brasileiro (with chicken, mozzarella cheese, and cream of corn) at cafe brasil in santa cruz. santa cruz is a beach town just south of san francisco with a lively boardwalk, plenty of restaurants, and lots of sun. we enjoyed the warm weather under blue skies today while sitting outside on the patio at cafe brasil in santa cruz.

leave a reply the colours are brilliant and the menu is eclectic at cafe brasil in santa cruz, california mexican food i’m expecting in the busy california coast city of santa cruz, or maybe a surfer cafe. but brazilian? sign me up. at cafe brasil , it’s certainly different than your usual morning fare. how about something civilized and light, like pingado—a pot each of coffee and hot milk, along with fresh baguette and fruit—or an acai smoothie smothered in granola, strawberries and bananas? i go off my map with orfeu negro, a dish of black beans on a baguette and then topped with a couple of poached eggs.  ole! how about some eggs on black beans and baguette? cafe brasil is located in a funky little house decorated in the brilliant national colours of yellow and green. if you’ve been at a surfer party the night before, you may need sunglasses. cafe brasil 1410 mission street, santa cruz, california daily 8 am-3 pm about these ads share this: click to email this to a friend click to share on pinterest click to share on twitter

wonderful authentic food!. i had looked into restaurants in the area after we booked our trip and this place was one i had seen on the top 10 in santa cruz. we were in search of a place to eat and i had forgotten about this place until it came up on my urban spoon! there was a short wait (the place is pretty small) and the back patio was closed unfortunately, but once seated we could hardly contain our excitement!! the customer service was on par and the food was superb!

first we started with some juice. i ordered the amazon cherry w/oj and it was tangy and packed with citrus flavor which i loved! my bf ordered the strawberry shake which was more like fresh strawberry juice and was just insanely amazing!

on to our appetizer, we decided to try the ham fried rice (we love fried rice) and it was out of this world! i will warn there are lots of veggies, which my bf wasn't too keen on but i loved them all! mushrooms, green onions, onions, chunks of ham, tomatoes and a wonderful flavor all around! a must try!! their constant use of green onions in their dishes was great!

now for our entrees. this was hard because their breakfast looked so amazing and there are just so many things you want to try! i went for something basic, acebolado which is your choice of meat ( i went with beef) topped with sautéed onions, tomatoes, green onions. served with black beans. omg... a real authentic treat i'll tell you! it seems so plain but the flavors come together and the beef has this amazing mouth watering flavor and juiciness going on that just can't be matched! then add the black beans with the rice and a little bit of the yucca flour they give you.. wow! my bf ordered something similar but his came with a fried egg on top and he loved his as well!

overall, if you are in santa cruz i highly recommend stopping by here and getting a taste of what they are offering up in here! it's not often i see decent places with brazilian food where i am from! :)

we originally planned to have brunch at linda's seabreeze but that place was packed with over a dozen people waiting in the parking lot for just a table. but i always have a backup - cafe brasil! easy to spot the bright green and yellow building. menu was very extensive; a good range of breakfast items, sandwiches, meat, seafood and most of the brunch items can be substituted to create a vegetarian breakfast.

super tasty!. i love a hearty breakfast and this certainly fit the bill.

i had to be talked through the menu by the ever patient waitress and having already discovered black beans was eager for more.

was an absolutely delicious meal. my only woe was that they didn't have espresso, just the drip stuff americans seem to love.
