as a local, i know that the people of emerald coast love this place, but i have to admit that i am less than impressed.
having grown up in south florida and spending a great deal of time in san diego, i know what a good burrito is.
on my last trip to burrito del sol, i paid over $10 for three amberjack tacos with a laughably small amount of fish. they were served to me in store bought tortillas that hadn't even been warmed. (think taco bell) it was topped off with sub-par, dry, powdery pre-shredded cheese. gross! the tiny portion of fish was cooked nicely with good flavor. the pineapple salsa was a barely-there after thought. they were basically cabbage tacos on cold tortillas.
my dining partner got the chicken burrito, bbq style. if you have an entire 'cooking style' devoted to bbq, you could at least make your own instead of slathering it in the high-fructose syrup abomination out of a bottle.
without a chipotle, or another suitable independent burrito company, i want to love this place, but i can't. if you have such a simplistic menu, the least you could do would be to make that tiny menu dynamite and use fresh, local ingredients, not just the sysco food truck.
i really hope that these guys have stepped up their game by the time i make another trip there.
