great italian food and ambience. had the red snapper fish and prawn pasta - gambere. the pasta turned out to be quite interesting with a creamy, sweet taste with juicy prawns. however the fish was the real winner with citrusy twist and served with mashed potatoes! we finished with soufflé which was quite good as well.

overall worth a try if you are in the hayward bay area and are into italian. skip the ice cream.

not worth the trip. looks like i'm still going to have to go the city for good italian. it was my first visit to buon appetito and regrettably my last. this restaurant has good intentions but just could not deliver "the food". the environment was very cozy and inviting. the wait staff was friendly but not very knowledgeable. the selection of wine by the glass left much to be desired. i decided to take a friend with me on this night of epicurean adventure. my friend ordered lasagna which was one step above stouffers or any other frozen dinner meal. i, because of a craving asked if the chef could make a carbonara. the most beautiful thing about carbonara is how the egg, pancetta, parma-reggi, olive oil and cracked black pepper create this savory, smokey, cheesy yumminess that dances off your tongue; followed by the brightness of added italian parsley. unfortunately i was served alfredo sauce w/ bacon. i couldn't really taste anything other than the alfredo sauce.

after reading all the great reviews, i had really high hopes for this place. fortunately, this establishment is relatively new/recently remodeled and still has a chance to tweak the menu (focus on quality of a few good dishes instead of the vast quantity of selections that they offer).

good food good menu. great italian menu, great fish, sides excellent, ceasar salad served as it was intended! great quality and value for what was served. pass the word great place and a well kept secret. enjoy

it was great. in short, the menu had many delicious meat-less choices, the decor was exquisite, and the food was very good.

if i had an italian grandmother i think this would be the way should would cook for me. boun appetito is well done italian food...if your a east bay native and you want simple and good italian...drop in and pay a visit...your stomach will thank you
