excellent service, it was quick and attentive. the food was superb. the 32 day aged rump steaks were tender and prepared properly— medium rare and rare. i’d return in a heartbeat,

amazing steaks, good side orders, decent wine and fantastic cocktails! the decor adds to the steakhouse feel and the staff are usually friendly and chatty.

fx buckley is a very reliable bet for dinner.  their meat comes from their own farm and it always great quality.  i don't think i've ever had a bad steak over the years.  it's more often than not the place i bring my parents when they come to town because you know exactly what you're getting.   this location is great for after work or pre gig dinner in town and the early bird is from 500-700pm, two courses for less than €20.  and if you want to be a bit healthier you can have a baked potato instead of chips with your steak.  i'm a big fan of their butchers too in town.  always great deals on produce.

so the last time i came here was a couple of years ago. i found the restaurant to be very cold and the seats were hard. i'm so so glad we decided to come back. the restaurant has had a make over. we were seated in a booth. it felt so so cosy and the leather covered seats were so comfortable!!

i ordered a half bottle of sangiovese / merlot red wine.

three of us for dinner. we shared the breads n dips and the charcuterie board for starters. that hummus is immense!!! the pesto was really nice but for me the star was the white soda bread.

for my main course i ordered the steak and seafood - a 6oz fillet steak cooked medium rare with some prawns. lovely char on the steak from the type oven they use. perfectly cooked and the prawns were delicious too. fab bearnaise sauce to dip them all in too!

i am not a potato fan and i asked if i could swap the spring onion mash for the mac n cheese. this was done without issue although the waiter wasn't sure it could be done. very impressed!

the mac n cheese was creamy and had a lovely crust on top. am sure it was calorific but so so worth it.

for dessert i ordered a french martini cocktail. lovely way to finish.

i couldn't give less than a five for this visit. great food that is well worth the price tag!!

being health conscious on the day  i got the superfood salad and it was absolutely devine.... really big portion of freshly cooked chicken with pine nuts and lots of healthy salads.  i was slightly jealous of my husbands huge burger and chips but i was still really happy with my order. he was thrilled too. really fab presentation of the food and they had a massive list of craft beers which looked fun - you could get a testing tray if you wanted . on another day i might have liked to do this . might stop in to give it a shot again and get something a bit more bold off the menu

we ate upstairs in the bull & castle bar and weren't disappointed at all with the food! the steak and the chicken supreme were very nice. there was a lovely atmosphere and the place was packed but the staff were still very attentive.

we had a bad experience here. we went up to the bull & castle bar and got drinks and took them outside to eat in front of the restaurant with our fish and chips from burdocks when someone from the restaurant can out and rudely told us to get lost because they don't allow outside food. i would understand getting run off if we hadn't just gotten drinks, but we were patrons and guests of their establishment at that point. if the guy had just been nice about it i wouldn't have thought anything, but instead he acted like such a jerk it made my wife start to cry. we'll never go there again....
