bow thai cuisine

poor quality & poor taste. i ordered the massaman curry with chicken and was hugely disappointed. they used chicken, peanuts, onions, and white potatoes. that's it. about as cheap as you can get. a quality restaurant would use cashews and peppers. the sauce was thin and runny and quite bland. the portion was very small. my companion was equally as unimpressed with his meal. i'm only guessing the reason people like this place is because they haven't had good thai food before. i would never go back.

the costomer service isn't that great however as long as they aren't rude idc it comes down to the food and this place was not bad it was ok. it's definitely not my favorite by far but it's a decent place to eat if you are traveling through. wasn't exactly authentic though.....

bow thai is my wife and my go to place in hartsville. all of the dishes are outstanding and we have had most of them. you can customize anything in the dishes including the heat. all of the food is prepared by the husband while the wife runs the frontend. let's put it in simple terms, it gets know better than boe thai!

i was in town over the weekend with my dad and step mom. i called in an order at 6:37pm, and they said it would take about 25 minutes. i waited to go in, so i could give them a little extra time to prepare the meal. we had pretty standard menu items (pad thai, fried rice, spring rolls, you get it..) on the order, and when i got there, there was a friendly young guy who assured me there was no problem and that i may have my order in 10 minutes. needless to say, i didn't get out of the restaurant until 7:50pm--which means i spent 45-50 minutes waiting, with no updates, no apologies, and no incentives to get me to come back. i got a response "well, we had 9 call ins, and yours must have been the last..." is that your way of apologizing??? i stormed out with the meal and rushed home.. the food was thankfully as ordered, and delicious, which is the only reason i gave 2 stars. otherwise, this place does not know how to run a restaurant or expedite in a kitchen. severely disappointed that i didn't get an offer for a free beer or anything while i waited.

i was there today with my patient having lunch. my experienced was ok not great but was ok. prices wise it’s very affordable which’s great. the waitress i assumed she was the owner of this place, we got seated and ordered our drinks, took her awhile for our drinks to arrive and also taking our orders. my order was very complicated due to my massive temporary allergies to wheats, soy, nuts, shellfish, dairy’s cause by my thyroid meds. i specifically told her how i wanted cook and she said ok, tasted the food and kinda suspicious about my food tasted with salted fish sauce so i thought hmm (keep in mind i was starving and needing food so i went ahead and ate, an hour later i while driving with my patient i was going crazy looking for my anti allergies meds in my purse because i was breaking out badly..meaning to say..i was not happy)
food was ok..could use more real thai food taste. service was ok, not a customer service friendly and could use more experience..i am going to give it another try the next time i’m in town and give another review

i love bow thai! the food is great and the atmosphere is adorable. you can't get much more authentic thai food as the owners and chef are actually from thailand. very nice people, i'd eat here every day if i could!

most disturbing restaurant experience. my daughter wanted to treat me so we went here with her two children. when our food was served i went to put my rice on the plate and as i dug into the rice bowl i found a black hair mixed into the rice. told waitress and had to ask for another (not offered). then my 7yr old granddaughter was picking through her food for broccoli and she pulled out a hair with her fork. told waitress again and all she said is we have never had this problem before. my daughter asked for take home containers before she knew about my granddaughters food and the waitress never even offered to replay the food. the waitress brought the check and i told my daughter to check it because it seemed like too much. found that waitress had charged us for someone else's food. all this time a women was standing at the counter giving us looks. so i went up to the counter and asked if she was the manager and she answered yes. i proceeded to tell her about our problem with hair in our food and she said, "so what." i was shocked to say the least. then i said i don't think we will be coming back and she answered, "i don't care." all this time we were very polite to her and the waitress. on the way out i talked to a few people still in the restaurant and told them what i had experienced and they were shocked as well. so very sad!!!!

food is awesome.... but. after placing a $70 "take away" order, i was informed that they cannot take payment over the phone. i had to convince the young lady to call the owner and ask if the $70 order was worth the 'take away" restriction. she came back to the phone and politely asked for my card number. so all in all, great restaurant!

awesome authentic thai food! i felt like i was back in bankok or cheang mai, thailand like i have been 5 times in the last 12 months. i am from new orleans and i like my food spicy. i asked for extra spicy and it was just right! i will be back on my next trip to hartsville. i high recommend eating here.

new owners / what happened ? !. boy do i hate to do this . i adore thai . i live in florence and since anne of annes thai passed away we have been stuck with the thai house here . i drive to the beach and columbia and esp charlotte for my thai fix now. imagine my surprise when i just learn of bow thai . i don't know how i never heard of them . i read all the amazing reviews here and bolt last night to hartsville . it was terrible . beat me all up want but before you do you better go back ... i had satay , tom yum and tom kai gai soups as well as fresh and fried spring rolls.
satay was a zero. it was press board chicken slats that had as much taste as wood. the sauce was watered down peanut butter and nuts . no spice . no heat . the soups were marginally better but get a can of tom yum powder and put one teaspoon per cup of water and some lemongrass , ginger and veggies and thats what you have here , the tom kai gai was tom yum, add milk . yuuuugggghhhh...
the prior owners sold out a couple of months ago the prior owners sold it a couple of months ago .i learned the cook came from charlotte restaurants . if that is so then he know better believe me and he is dumping the lowest denominator on poor unsuspecting backwoods hartsville.
these guys better do a 360 or they too will be on a slow boat to asia .
now that's the mean part .
this is meant to be a wake up call . i would prefer they up their game and stay and flourish . the owners wife seems adorable and their kids just too precious . i like the atmosphere ok and its a nice location . i hope they get it together and kick things up several notches. i want more se asian choices within driving distance .
i will return in 2 months and will delete / add a new review if it warrants it .

bow thai. i have loved this restaurant since it first opened. and i love the new owners even better. he use to work for my favorite thai restaurant in charlotte and brought the glass/cellophane noodles to hartsville. my fav! they are friendly, good service, comfortable atmosphere, and hard workers.

you won't be disappointed. absolutely the best thai food i have ever had anywhere and i'm a thai fan. i've tried it everywhere and i was pleasantly surprised to find this quality food in hartsville.

renofest attendees. fantastic thai restaurant! i had a duck pad thai that had, i think, more duck than noodles. it had a nice combination of tender duck meat plus some browned, crispy pieces. my husband had a spicy steamed mussel dish, and he said he had never had such a huge amount of fresh, sweet tasting mussels. the service was friendly and fast despite a fairly crowded restaurant. what a great find in such a welcoming small town.

bow thai has become my favorite place to eat. every time i go the food is amazing and the wait staff courteous. even my kids love it!

search the state, and you will not ever find a better thai restaurant in south carolina than bow thai kitchen. pure bliss!
