service is poor, manager not responsive. group of us went to boka for birthday dinner. when we made reservation through opentable we noted that event was to celebrate a birthday. they even called us to confirm our reservation, during which they also confirmed that the occasion was a birthday and the birthday person will receive a special dessert as a service. the dinner was fine, while the food looked pretty the flavor/taste was mediocre. when it came time for dessert the server didn't mention anything special so my husband had to tell her at the table that we had talked to the reservation person about the birthday, which he was trying to keep it a surprise. the server had no idea what he was referring to and said that no one had told her. she then said she will go check. she never came back with a dessert or bring us a dessert menu or offer us some coffee. we had to flag her down later for a coffee. we didn't want to make a scene or bigger deal to avoid making our friends more uncomfortable, so we left after paying the check.

bottom line, if you are looking for a restaurant for special occasion, this is not the one.

we've called the manager to tell them about the problem but we keep having to leave a message. after 2 calls, though we've requested a call back, we have not received a call from the manager.

these fish tacos are so sneaky they’re not even on the dinner menu, and that is always a good sign. they came with cilantro, slaw and salsa all on top of pan-fried rockfish that was cooked damn near perfectly. like if kobe bryant had decided to become a chef instead of going to the nba and he loved pan-frying rockfish, well, basically the equivalent of that. they were even  little on the spicy side, which is a major bonus. served on corn tortillas, so overall pretty healthy and had a decent price tag at $13. boka is a really nice spot too if you haven’t been in here, super dope setting and we got incredible service. i see you mr. boka, i see you. taste 4/5. health 4/5. price 4/5.

....its 120-seat restaurant is called best of kitchen artistry, boka for short. the modest chef, top left, is peter birk, and his menu is as mouthwatering as ever. enter now bar manager cory duffy, who is also the owner of rain city spirits on east marginal way, concocting cocktails to match the food. a gin & tonic for example, with tuna sashimi. no ordinary gin, either: locally distilled big gin, barrel-aged, cask strength, and infused with grapefruit and coriander. sangria to accompany oyster-mushroom arancini; a black tea martini to accompany the duck; a dark rum punch for the braised lamb; a variat

i indulged with boka’s breakfast of a lumberjack omelette stars applewood smoked bacon, onions, golden glen creamery cheddar, sausage, country gravy and includes roasted potatoes + choice of bacon, ham or veggie sausage (egg whites or egg beaters are available upon request). here you see egg beaters and choice of bacon… because i rationalized that the egg beaters were a credit so i could have my bacon side.

we were far from home and exhausted and boka restaurant came to our rescue on so many levels. we were greeted by a well informed and extremely kind server, brooke. it was her smile and knowledge of the menu that assured us were in good hands . the food was amazing. we were so hungry and needed quick suggestions. brooke started us out with the tuna and the pork belly, both were outstanding! the second course came out promptly and the flavors were memorable!! compliments to the chef!!! we travel quite often and we will definitley return to boka. thank you!

breakfast and happy hour. breakfast and happy hour are two best things about boka. there is a complete lack of decent downtown breakfast meeting place options (not starbucks) and boka fills that niche nicely.

also happy hour prices are good. the drinks are delicious and the homeade jalepeno poppers stuffed with lots of beechers cheese, beer battered and fried, are the perfect happy hour drink accompaniment.

i, too, detest the decor of the main dining room but prefer the patio or the fireside lounge. you can reserve all or part of the fireside lounge for events. i've done this for a party of 25 and we had a blast!

good dt lunch spot. i've gone for lunch several times and have yet to not order the truffle fries. they are great.

the decor (frosted glass bar, lots of polished steel and broken glass shard fireplaces) and equally trendy four letter name kept me from going to this place for some time actually. the uber trendy is not usually my scene. but, once i found out they have good sandwiches, burgers and fries, i was all about it.

poor service and cold potatos! my wife and i stayed in the hotel for one night and decided to give boka a try for breakfast. it was a sunday morning, not at all crowded when we arrived. we were seated quickly but nothing else was quick. we ordered coffee, an omelette, eggs-bene, and a yogurt parfait (to be brought out first). refills for coffee came rarely and only upon asking. food took quite a while and i had to remind them about the yogurt (which then came after we were done). my omelette was fine, but potatoes were cold and hard. the eggs-bene was soggy and not very tasty. i had asked for ketchup which didnt come until almost done. other tables were having similarly poor experiences. not sure if they were short-staffed or what but a very poor experience.

update: manager at boka acknowledged that the service that morning was below their expectations and offered an apology and a gift card. we'll give them another chance.

i do know that there wasn’t one tiny piece of huevos, or anything else come to that, left on jeanne’s plate when it went sailing back to the kitchen. i take that as a good sign.

great tasting menu!. we ordered the chef's tasting menu which was priced at $45 a person. we were given several courses - and each of us got something different for each course - all very delicious. there was not a single course that we weren't wowed by, and for the price we felt that we'd gotten far more value that we actually paid. the service was spot on and attentive, and the energy in the room was great. highly recommended!

cool atmosphere, good drinks, ok food. i only come here for happy hour and to sip on a drink and watch the changing backdrop lights that line the bar and seating sections. food is 'meh' with the focus being on a trendy place to reside.

if you can get past the decor.... boka is a solid restaurant. food is good if you can stay away from the trendy interpretations. stick to the everyday standbys and you can't go wrong. once nice touch was that we valet parked our car. when it was returned to us, there were two fresh cold bottles of water waiting for us in the front seat console.
