boathouse rotisserie & raw bar

horrible service. had an hour and a half. took 10 minutes just to get our drinks. i don't recommend it to anyone. very disappointed.

meh. servers seemed harried and tired - at 6 pm. grilled okra was yum, and my husband enjoyed his (pretty pricey - $20 for 7) butterflied, fried shrimp, but my catfish was so disappointing. catfish nuggets in a southern restaurant? couldn't really imagine why this place seems to be so popular. overall, it was at best, ok - made it through dinner but definitely no reasons to return.

outstanding food! i'm the type who has a favorite dish at a given restaurant, but i love at least half a dozen things on their menu. boathouse is my go-to place; never had a bad meal here.

my experience @ lunch both times - great location, great food, great service (parking can be tricky)

bad food - reheated, no spice. i ate here with my wife and parents recently. everyone was ok with their food but me. i ordered the el scorcho chicken off their specialties menu. what i received was obviously pre-cooked (the day before?) and deep-fried a second time to warm it up. this results in a burnt, tough piece of bird with no flavor except for the scorched oil taste. maybe this is why it's called el scorcho chicken. it was inedible, at any rate. the only taste coming from the bird was that of fry vat oil that was in dire need of changing out for fresh. old oil has an unmistakable odor/taste. my side dishes had no flavor, zero spice, zero scorch. finally, my diet coke was flat the first time so i returned it. the second one came out without any syrup. if you're going to charge as much for soft drink as for a beer it should be right - no excuses. it's a diet coke for crying out loud, not a chocolate martini. and this place was packed!! chattanooga should demand more from it's restuarants. too many stiffs here settling for poor quality and service in exchange for top-shelf pricing.

amazing view and even better food!. this is definitely not the frozen processed food that you would find at the overwhelming number of chain restaurants. everything is made from scratch including their fresh made fries. there is nothing like sitting on the patio drinking a margarita at sunset. i love the feta and olive oil dip as well as the brisket with fresh au jus for dipping. i would have to say that my two favorite things are the wood grilled mushrooms and the grilled green beans. mmmm!

great atmosphere, beer, and oysters. i love the boathouse... there is something great about lounging on the patio, eating oysters, and drinking a great draft beer while watching people run, bike and play golf.

i am particularly in love with their stuffed poblano pepper, pork nachos (which aren't on the menu so ask for them), voodoo chicken and havana banana.

my only negative, stay away from the coleslaw. it's a little funky.

love the views from the porch and always great food.

dining outside...with a view!. say what you will about the owner (personally, he has always been very nice to me), but the boathouse is simply the best place in chattanooga to sit outside and enjoy a good meal with a view. it's the best place in town with a killer view of the river.

i agree with charlie below. the rudeness extends it's self to sugars ribs as well. after eating their chicken for over a year, i asked to sample a rib, before i droped $20 plus dollars on a rack. they told me no and i will never be back.

terrible service. went to boathouse on tue 7/7/09. not busy at all .seated promptly, once order taken, waiter never came back to table to see if needed anything, (food deliviered by someone else) luke warm, no crackers, no bread , no drink,. no tip... i guess we were invisible !!! here's a tip for you don't go there!!

free parenting advice with your food order. lawton haygood, the owner of boathouse has let success go to his head. although i like their food, the service isn't all that great...but now to top it off mr. haygood has taken to criticizing parents who patronize his restaurant with their children...it's a really long story but the bottom line is if you want to be talked down to by the wait staff and treated as if they are doing you the favor by letting you eat there, then this is the place for you..

really good food. we go all the time. we really love it. not sure if its permanent or not, but monday's are usually half price oysters. i have to drag my wife out. all the other food is good, too.

wait for outside. this is the only chattanooga restaurant that is really on the water. walk or bike the riverwalk and end up here for fabulous sunsets and great food. the olive oil fries are worth the calories. the poblano pepper stuffed with chicken and cheese is a meal in itself. see you there!
