i have been meaning to try this spot out for quite some time and was lucky enough to finally get there last night.
to begin with, hank van heteren and peter, are some of the most articulate and passionate people that i have met in the south african restaurant industry and it really does shine through in their meal presentations and quality.
blu saffron, located in the pretoria country club has an ideal location if not one of the best. this is by no means a small restaurant either boasting two lounges, a bar, a main dining area, and an outside patio with couches, tables and chairs overlooking the first tee.
both charne and jasmin, our attentive hostesses for evening visits that i have been here, were always on hand to top up our glasses or assist. 5/5 on service - i am just never disappointed!the food: over several visits, i have tried their famous biltong soup with spring onions and it was sublime! there is certainly a reason that this soup is famous! then i moved onto their recommended lamb shoulder which was cooked to perfection and finished up the meal with a creamy cappuccino!
all in all, a very pleasant experience and i didn't regret making the trek to pretoria for a night out at all! i will be back!
