...a terrific brunch spot, especially out on the patio during these last few weeks of summer. the prices are reasonable (both our dishes were $12 each) and the service was very good. considering that dinner entrees are nearly twice as much, brunch at black market bistro is an exceptional value.

what a gem!. located in an old victorian home in a residential neighborhood -- the sound of the train going by was a perk, not a problem. green grass, trees shimmering all around -- felt like we had discovered a secret gem. fresh, tasty food. worth the drive, too -- felt like we were "getting away." with something? from something?

i often lament the lack of good brunch options in dc. and while, with a few exceptions , my opinion that dc does not have a decent variety of good brunch spots remains unchanged. but if you are willing to venture a little outside the beltway, brunch nirvana in a tranquil setting awaits at black market bistro . located in garrett park in an old victorian post office building, black market bistro's brunch starts sundays at 10am, at which time there's a line of people waiting to get in. we discovered it thank

a quaint little restaurant in the heart of surburbia, bmb is a great spot to grab a bite after a long work day. a great meal was followed by what i believe to be an american traditional dessert: apple crisp. f.y.i. to future consumers, be leery of th

b and i first went to black market bistro for brunch a few weeks back and were seated on the front porch of this old post office turned restaurant.

solid and comfortable but nothing spectacular. like other "black's" restaurants the focus here seems to be on the seafood. i started the cornmeal crusted oysters which had a nice crunch from the cornmeal but were pretty average. my entrée was a tuna steak on a pancetta and garbanzo bean cassoulet. while the tuna was cooked pretty nicely i enjoyed the cassoulet more. (is it cheating to use pancetta? doesn't it make everything better?)
the ambiance of the bistro is very charming. i lieu of the large open space you'd find in most restaurants there are several small rooms with just a few tables in each room, which you'd expect being that its hidden in the back of a neighborhood. i believe it was a post office at one time. service was good and we didn't feel rushed at any point even though there were a few people waiting for tables. if urbanspoon had a 5 points scale i'd give it about a 3.5

blue hair brunch. unfortunately, i had to return to this restaurant recently when i forgot it's better sister addie's was closed on sunday for lunch. i was thrust into blue hair brunch hell and had to wait far longer than is warranted.

the sunday sandwiches were boring and the extra spiced potatoes were soggy and inedible.

perhaps if you are looking for a place to replace the most basic brunch this attractive building next to the commuter rail tracks welcomes you. however, if you care more about the overall quality of the food and wine reserve this for your grandma"s birthday.
