big mike's soul food

i'm a local and live 3 blocks from here. i travel nationally for work and use urbanspoon often. i'm thrilled to have a place this good so close to home. do yourself a favor, eat here. it's a treat.

absolutely... hands down a great place to eat! the food is amaaaazing. always a smiling face from the staff. most definitely will eat here whenever we're in the area!

our waitress, victoria, was very friendly and had a smile on her face during our entire visit. the food was good, however i gave a two star rating because another waitress tried to steal our waitresses tip. as we went to pay, my coworker paid her ticket with cash and asked the cashier to give our waitress her tip. she laid the tip on the counter and had to leave. as i paid for my food, the woman running the register took the $5 and placed it on the counter by the cash register. my next coworker began to pay for his food and the cashier then took the $5 and placed it into her pocket. i looked at her and told her, "that is her money" pointing to victoria, "you did not wait on us she did". she then took the money out of her pocket, said "i'm sorry" and gave the money to victoria. i waited on victoria to finish placing an order and let her know what had happened. while waiting on our other coworker to finish paying for her food, the thief (light skinned woman with freckles on her face and hair braided up into a bun) was overheard by myself speaking to one of her coworkers (light skinned young lady with short hair and glasses) about me saying, "she looking like miss piggy". now just to be clear, the short haired young lady was not doing anything wrong, she was just drug into the situation by the thief, with whom i guess felt the need to down talk a customer because she was caught stealing. anyway, i then hollered at her saying, "at least i ain't no thief". when i left the establishment, i called to speak with the owner and was first told the owner was not there. i told them, "i know he is there i just left". i was then hung up on. i called back a second time and was told to hold on and instead hung up on. the third time i called back, i told them of how they hung up on me, and instead of putting the owner on the phone, my name and phone number was taken, but i am pretty sure it will not be given to the owner. no one should go to work and bust their ass doing a wonderful job to have their hard earned and well earned money stolen from them.

what a meal, what an environment.

if you come to myrtle beach and miss out on this place, you should hang your head in shame.

i travel all over the se usa, and i've eaten at to many places to count, i believe this is the best little, hidden gem i've yet to discover.

the food here is phenomenal! the prices are even better! my family of four ate for under 50 bucks!!! the service is, how shall i say "gritty", but i would gladly eat here again.

such great food for a great price. $10 gets you a meat, three sides, amazing corn bread, and a drink. the mac and cheese was on point. will be going back.

hello, i have ate all over the myrtle beach area, north to south. from the calabashes to to the regular chains. hands down "big mikes" is phenomenal! wonderful service and friendly staff with home cooking to rival my own mothers. the fried chicken, the meat loaf , the the fish is like no other, the sides are perfection. this food actually had flavor. being from west virginia we know home/soul food like no one else. i have never been satisfied with a meal at the beach any more than at "big mikes!" oh, one more thing the portions are awesome and the price is great. thanks big mike!!!!

blue plate with fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, mac n cheese, green beans. it was absolutely the best meal i have had all week here in myrtle beach, sc.

fried chicken cabbage mac n cheese yummy. yum! loved it here, service was great. food was delicious. so happy we found it. no one back home cooks like this. thanks for a wonderful dinner.

great food / great price. had the smothered pork chops, greens, and rice. pretty good stuff...i would eat there again.

wow amazing fantastic.. what else can i say? some of the best country food i have had at a restaurant. reminded me of something my grandmother would have loved. get the blue plate special, don't even look at the menu. i got the chop steak greens rice and gravy and mac and cheese. hubs the pork chops and kid the fish.. comes with cornbread and a drink.. if the place weren't so busy i might have licked my plate clean. peach cobbler was the best i have ever had in my life.. i will try to convince hubby to go back before we leave.

wow. this is the best food i have i a long time if you are ever in myrtle beach i would swing by because the food is great and the price is right and please eat the greens they are the best

great place!. mike has a wonderful restaurant with delicious home cooked foods. he always welcomes his customers with a smile and hello! service is great and the food is scrumptous... always a great selection of foods. it is definitely a must for anyone living or visiting the myrtle beach area!
