we aged a bit while here. 20 minute wait for coffee. food 30 minutes later. when someone asked me what we did for memorial day, i'll respond that we waited a long time for cold food with bad service.

one of my favorites. i have never gone here and left without wanting to rave about it. the food and service are great, and the price is right.

this place is overlooked by a lot of people in st. louis for some reason, which almost makes it better. it's a local treasure, and is a nice option in benton park. it used to be that frazer's was it for me down there, but now i'm always torn between the two.

i used to love this place but the last few times we have gone it's been so inconsistent. some visits and the food is great! then you go another time and it's not so great......

don't know what all the fuss is about. hollandaise was from a mix and very pasty. all else was just a mess. won't be back anytime soon. many better options nearby.

i came here with my wife because i had heard that this was one of the best places to go to for breakfast in all of st. louis. i got the omelette with their hash browns, and my wife got their french toast. both were alright, but it was not the best breakfast.

first off let's thank liz for a great two hour lunch.
what a great gal she is, kept the tea flowing and the boys happy at lunch today.

we all had different chicken sandwich... fantastic
salad was tasty and the type that i like.
the other guys had the potatoes and they loved them because they both licked the bowls clean.

we walked right in and set down , great place to people watch.
the crowd moved in and out pretty quick...
we will have to try this place for brunch, cus this place smells like a county kitchen for  breakfast....

see you next time liz

the pancakes are good here, i really loved how golden they were and the crispy edges just exploded with flavor. i guess now i don't have to drive 250 miles for some great pancakes. these were delicious with a glass of milk. order a glass of water and you will be surprised with it, i think it has some cucumber freshness in it and is like none i have had before, i really enjoyed it with a touch of lime to squeeze in it.

if you come by yourself or its just a couple like you and a friend, you can walk right in and sit at the bar to be served, otherwise you come in and wait for the hostess to sit you at a table.

the service here is not fast, so be patient. eventually the waitress will be over to take your order and bring you some of that delicious water.

trying this restaurant out, reminds me of why i dine out, to be surprised like this, with the little things like cucumber water and crispy delicious golden pancakes and some great fresh eggs that were great, and they cooked my bacon well done, which i love, it is like the knew how i wanted my food.

i enjoyed the atmosphere, just a cozy little cafe that does things well. it can be noisy in here, and the wooden floor, makes for a warm feeling and the cool decor, is a nice flare, nothing fancy here, just cozy and comfortable. this place feels good. when you first walk in the door you get this whiff of well known scents and fragrance like that pancakes and syrup, with hints of chocolate coffee in the air. almost like moms kitchen on sunday morning.

they don't have a private parking lot, so you will have to park on the street. it did not present a problem for me, just let me get a chance to see and speak to some of the people who live and work near here. the people seem fairly nice in this quaint little neighborhood. after a good meal here, the walk back was welcomed to move around and i was stuffed with all sorts of good, warm sweet eats.

while reading the board i can tell they may have some good bloody mary's cocktail here and coffee too for the morning start, to help you get going.

even though they have delicious golden pancakes, they do not serve waffles. that seems to be typical of the better pancake places i have eaten at. i have been to a few that were great pancake places where they didn't serve waffles and this appears that this is one of them.

as far as cleanliness goes, my table is still sticking to me, like they wiped it but not well. it could be some soft wood around the edge, but for some reason it feels sticky and mushy to me, perhaps it is the fake wood? i think it's full of oil or dirt, but i will not be picky on this issue. i have seen a customer come in and she slid a little bit on the floor, that's not a good sign, someone could fall and get hurt with the wrong type of shoes on.

overall, the place looks clean to me, there or not clusters of dust or anything, there is a cup under the bar stand, but i can live with that. also, they have a wet floor sign out leaning on the wall, which should be behind the counter which takes away from the coolness of the place, seems like laziness or forgetfulness on their part.

i can see a picture of a man and woman on the bathroom doors so i hope its not a shared bathroom. if it is that's interesting, you don't see those anymore.

all in all, the aroma, the food, the great pancakes with those crispy edges and they are huge.the rich buttery flavor, this place does it good!

blood mary and/or coffee are must. breakfast burritos are extraordinary with different ingredients to choose from than a normal breakfast place.

my favorite breakfast spot in st. louis. their breakfast pizzas are different and tasty. i'm a big fan of building my own burrito or omelette but honestly have never had anything that wasn't top notch. they also know how to do coffee and latte drinks. this morning we had bloody mary's and mimosas so all in all an amazing breakfast.

you need to come before 8:30 if you don't want to wait.

good!. a great array of classic but slightly tweaked breakfast items. everything was well made and the lively atmosphere only enriched the experience.

good no matter what the time.. i've been going to this gem for years now. i love that they offer an incredible breakfast at a reasonable price, and are so friendly. not the best place for large groups but a party of 6 to 8 can be accommodated. it is kid friendly and they even have kids books to entertain until your meal arrives, which is usually pretty quick. they have a really good breakfast pizza but just be warned that occasionally, they do run out of ingredients to make it but there are many other excellent substitutions. also, they offer fresh seasonal fruit that is always quite good as well.
