it's a special uniqueness that separates bedford apart from ordinary cocktail bars. a uniqueness that stems from focusing on the finer details, creating a seamless experience simply be enjoyed.

subs is in decent size but it's not baguette as described, it's more like a bread roll. the home make soda definitely balanced the meal very nicely.

stopped in twice with 3 kids and had a great experience. we all loved the meat balls & the cocktails were amazing. had a steaming copper kettle thing which was really good. staff were very friendly and professional. my partner is super critical being ex hospo and very opinionated (read big p.i.t.a) - she had no complaints, which in itself is a tall order.

great place to call in for a nice meal (quick service and tasty food) and then catch up with friends for a drink in the bar. relaxed atmosphere and a perfect place for socialising!

love the new spot there in ponsonby central, last friday night the team at bedford soda & liquor ran a smooth operation delivering us a full set of gourmet treats coupled with the djs selection of tasty beats. interior fitout's off the chain, meatballs any way you like and the chef puts some serious love into the mash. go there, get some! a+++

the meatballs on the other hand were inedible. i love a good slider but to be fair these were the worst i have had! my husband couldn't eat them either. great concept and with some new recipes this could be a fun place, but as it stands not a place i would ever eat again!

they had me with the soda water on tap. i have been here a few times it’s a great place to meet, mid afternoon. the meatballs and fries are perfect snack size and all the drinks really well made. emerson’s london porter on tap also!

when a place only does one thing you expect them to do it well. the meatballs here are seriously average. i ordered a sub and got 3 mediocre meatballs on dry bread with a little bit of tomato sauce, dried mixed herbs out of a box and enough cheese to sink a ship. no greens, no nice relish/sauce or crusty fresh bread. i left most of it on the plate.

staff were 50/50 - some were really friendly others didn't give you the time of day.

to any future patrons - grab a soda and some of the shoestring fries but don't touch the rest of the menu!

cool place, really good set up and great idea. staff were friendly and helpful. great drinks menu but that's about it. meatballs - if you are going to focus on one type of food then i would expect you to do them well. the meatballs were average at best. far to overpriced for what it is. really need to lift your game here guys. if you were passing by this place. stop in for a drink and shoestring fries. that's about it.

nice place but a tad overated/overpriced.

the prices are a bit high for what you get portion wise.

the food is very good though, just wish it was sized better.

just to expensive for what it is. the food is ok, but no better than what you'd find in a pub or takeaways in any suburb but the prices are insane for the portions. and the charge for sauce. surprised they don't charge for a glass of water, then extra if you want ice. i would nor recommend, much better places in the same complex, i'd advise you walk right past

went to have a drink just before 10pm on a wednesday night only to be told they had called last orders. bit confused as there are still quite a few people sitting having drinks and thought the advertised hours are until midnight. will try again and rate you next time

$19 for 3 small meatballs and sauce on top of a small bit of mash!

the meatballs were ok, not amazing as i expected for this price, slightly too salty. the sauce and mash were good.

but for $19 i was expecting a lot more and the portions should definately have been bigger.

i don't see how this restaurant is going to last, i went there during peak lunch hour and there was one other table occupied. this restaurant needs to review their prices and portion sizes.

would i go back? no.

this place is so average i believe the 5 star reviews must be the place itself writing them.

firstly the service is terrible. the frumpy south african waitress was moody, impatient and at times rude.

the food - it's 3 meatballs for $14, (they are really nothing special)so once you have tried to make this a meal of some sort with fries or similar you are spending $24-27 and the portions are really not huge - i was still hungry. add a desert and you will be looking at $35 a head in total for a meal that is neither memorable or substantial enough.

the drinks were probably the best part - but don't bother with the coffee. i got a boiling hot cup of something i had to in the end refuse.

i think this place needs to learn you have to get the ponsonby formula right before you start charging the ponsonby prices.

we went to bedford the other night, i had the gold fashioned, it was really tasty and dressed with a bit of theatre with a cover and some smoke, the girls had a few of the different daisys off the menu which were pretty average to be honest but generally we had a pretty good time..
