great bakery items- so-so food. bakery gets 2 thumbs up!
cafe gets 3 stars for decent cafe food pricing (what do you expect from a bakery/cafe?), decent food flavor, interesting creative consepts on food combinations.
delicious bakery items (though some are a tad pricey for anything more than once-in-a-while splurging)

bill breakdown:
sandwhich & soup/salad of choice $10.45
ginger peach tea $1.80
lemon poppy seed muffin $1.99
2 slices of cranberry nut bread- complementary

you walk in to see rows of baked delights begging to be eaten, the price tags however can throw you off if you havent tried the products yourself to know they are worth it.

the cranberry bread wasnt bad but im not a nut lover and i dont especially like crunchy bread thats not because of the crust. the interesting butter did help add a flavor to it and overall was a nice little starter- i loved that it was free!

my eggplant sandwhich was good but the oil they used soaked even the bread through in some spots- while still being delicious it was messy and i was a little embarrased to eat it in public so i took the other small half portion to go. the ginger peach tea was good but i messed it up by trying the sugar substitute sweetner leaving a nasty after taste in my mouth. i didnt enjoy the spring salad at all, i tasted none of the dressing and though it was all fresh and not iceburg i felt like a cow chewing grass. the upside to brighten my plate was the small fresh fruit they include, a thick slice of fresh orange, and a thin but decent slice of juicey watermelon. mmmmm!

the food was decent enough i enjoyed it but i dont think ill be going back to eat there, however the lemon poppy seed muffin is sublime and i look forward to a future visit to explore more options- preferrably fresh ones first thing in the morning!

i found the coffee too strong and the scones disappointing. the cranberry scone was like eating bread, with a heavy but not crunchy crust; the buttermilk scone was like eating cake. day-old cake.

best meal in texas. i just had the best lunch i've ever had in the state of texas today, at the bear moon bakery.

the espresso bbq beef sandwich is truly a work of art.

the queenie tomato soup is addictive.

the sweet butter for the bread was whipped with carrot and spices, making the bread reminiscent of carrot cake.

service was friendly, fast, and helpful - they even let me see the recipe for the soup!

nice & cozy place for breakfast. stopped by this place on a road trip to have breakfast. they had a breakfast buffet with all the main items - eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes, waffles, french toast & fruit. there were also all kinds of pastries to choose from. the food was great and the place was small with very few tables, but there was outside seating. if you're passing through boerne, stop by this place for breakfast. good stuff..

the best and the worst. bear moon has hands-down the best baked goods and buying them at the counter is no problem. i love to take my kids there for a cupcake or sugar cookie. but, i am fed up with the lousy service when ordering from the lunch menu--for sit-down or to-go. i once waited almost an hour for a sandwich that i had ordered to go before discovering that they had forgotten to put my order in to the kitchen. i was completely ignored as i waited....and waited....and waited....with my two small children hanging off of me. when i finally asked about my order, the guy at the counter was not apologetic at all and nothing was comped. i should have thrown a big fit i guess. we gave them another chance and ate lunch there the other day...the quiche was highly disappointing with a wierd too-smooth texture and hardly anything in it other than eggs and cream. the prices are way too high for what the food is. the service is at best friendly but inattentive but at worst it is downright rude. i'll never buy from the lunch menu again...we'll be sticking to the sweet treats from now on.

go for the pastries. the turnovers and baked doughnuts are not to be missed! the actual sit-down restaurant is not my favorite (would much rather go to little gretel), but i've never had a single pastry from the counter that i didn't like. this is a fun place on a summer morning to go grab a bite to go and take it over to river road park to watch the ducks glide across the water.

amazing. this place is great! you must try it. they make their own bread - i recommend the scottish oat. have a sandwhich grilled - it's fab. this cafe is a great example of simple food tasting incredible because of the stellar ingredients.
also loved the coffee.

great soup and salad. bear moon, in addition to having delicious pastries and coffee, always has such fresh soups and salads. my favorite soup is the avocado tomato. salads taste like fresh from the garden.

addicted!. i'll admit that i'm totally addicted to their jalapeño cheese piggies and bearclaws and make it a habit to stop in several times a month. from the moment you walk in you are overwhelmed by colorful and perfectly crafted confections and chocolaty delights and alluring smells that only an established bakery could produce. a variety of hot and excellent coffees also await. the staff should be made honorary ambassadors for the city of boerne; as a local, the gracious way they handle tourists makes me proud. all-in-all, bear moon bakery is the epitome of what a local hometown bakery should be: warm, welcoming and delicious.
