bar mercato

though we live around the corner from this place but we never had a chance to try it on so this time we stopped by for a coffee and cake. i had moccha but unfortunately it wasn't i expected, the milk wasn't creamy enough and not much chocolate sauce in therebas for the espresso taste alright. and for the cheesecake lampoon pretty good and so did the sfogiatella. service was good, friendly team member.

i love this place! great selection of sweet and savoury food and good coffee. after you're done feasting you can head into the shop section to browse a vast range of italian goodies to stock up your fridge and pantry with. the only downside is that it can get quite busy so there is not always available seating.

a delightful cafe attached to a rather large italian grocer / deli. the groceries are excellent, well priced and a large range. going to the food, they are pretty well priced, although adding $6 for a side salad seems a bit steep. they did charge 10% for a public holiday which i thought was unreasonable for counter service.

anyway, the range of food is good. the croissant was a bit average; seemed just a bit over baked. the appearance wasn’t quite loafer or lune. the panino was reasonable, good serving size, nice filings. the cannoli was excellent!

i’m not local but would probably come back another time. you do have to pick and choose your items as some are great and others not so much. i would give 3.5 if i had the choice.

have had the pleasure of having breakfast and lunch here over the past month. the menu is fresh and full of flavours often with specials. the coffee is outstanding and the staff are friendly.

cute cosy little spot with a great italian shop attached. i would of liked to have seen a little bit more on the menu. the flavours of both the arancini & meatballs were delicious & had that authentic italian flavour.

i actually have never dined in here although it does look like a lovely place for coffee. i purely gave this place 5 stars because i love their other products. go to place for yummy food extras to add to family and friends presents.

really lie the format and good coffee but they struggle with the basics. had a toasted ham and cheese croissant that was still cold in the middle. sent it back and explained the problem and asked for it to be open toasted. quite polite - but just got another one cooked exactly the same.

i can't fault anything about bar mercato. the food is amazing, the pizza is so delicious and their section of breads and cakes is amazing. we had pizza to share and it was so good, i should have taken a slice home to devour later. the zeppole was so light and crisp and absolutely delicious. get there early or risk missing out.

today we went to bar mercato. the food was delicious and well presented and the staff were friendly and helpful. it was cool that they had an area for customers to buy things like pasta and meat in the same building. the restaurant was fairly busy. the food came out pretty quickly but not all at once and the toilets were clean modern. the building was lovely with some decorations like posters.

the food is average and way over priced. i was charged extra for takeaway coffee 80c. mini panini was very dry and small for $:4.90.
if i was anywhere else i would have walked out.

seriously peeps, you can just go foodie mad in this place! fabulous selection of cheeses, meats (even iberico jamon), great italian goods, amazing range of pastas, just everything. if you were having friends over for bevvies and wanted to make up some platters that were just that little bit spesh, this is the place to shop! we also have lunch here sometimes in the cafe area and the food is simple and good. the presentation of the dishes are surprisingly lovely, not what you would expect and really well priced. mercato is absolutely worth the drive if you haven't been yet!

revisit 13/04/2017
back to mercato for some more goodies and lunch. this time, disappointing. service was terrible and rude. we ordered lunch and mine was the tonnato porchetta, sounds nice right? well, it wasn't too bad, but not great. i asked the waiter if they could just put a little bit of salad on the plate, reading that it was just meat and bread, yes that is fine, we can do that. when the meal came out, the tonnato looked very pretty and i also had a bowl of salad. thinking wow i just wanted a little bit, i was actually given the side salad mentioned on the menu for $8 extra. the salad was a very small bowl that consisted only of mesclun, floury tomatoes and red onion, that's it! no cucumber, no capsicum, no olives! that's right gourmands! an italian cafe that does not serve olives on their side salad! wt-? well, of course being a little bit of an inquisitive person, i just had to ask the waiter, "do you not include olives in your side salad?" he proceeded back to the kitchen to ask someone!! i actually heard the person yell back, no we do not have olives in our salad. history in the making peeps, that's all i can say.

was once a great lover of this place as its great for its homemade pizzas and pasta.

the service however is rather appalling, with rude waitresses who either fail to serve, or display negative body language whilst talking about you in italian .

it's a shame as the food is simply authentic and great. however i won't be returning until the attitude of a few staff members changes

pleasant, fresh pre made pizzas and general cafe fare. good selection of groceries and delicious slices meats. the staff are attentive and the choices extensive. reliable mid range takeaway food and plenty to picnic with.

the specials menu is great too, always changing reflecting the seasonal produce & quality in house stuff they sell.

we'd had breakfast (unfortunately) so could only fit in a coffee and mini sfogliatelli (delicious and perfect size for my macchiato). great coffee. however, the pizzas in the display case looked amazing as did the meals coming out. smelled amazing. great range of cakes.
