wanting a few drinks and a little something sweet after a night at the cafe, a few of us stopped by bar ferdinand for some of their excellent sangria. we don't mess around when it comes to drinks, so we started with a pitcher of red and white sangria. i e

excellent service and food. pixin con panceta (monkfish and pork belly skewer), seared duck hearts and seared octopus medallions were all excellent. sangria was a little dilute but tasty. seafood/chorizo paella special was a very good but a little on the salty side.

the big highlight was the service - a real contrast to the poor service that is so common in philadelphia restaurants. waitress was wonderful. our glasses were never empty for long! very tastefully decorated and well appointed. get a seat in the dining area with the beautiful broken tile murals and one wall opening out to the patio.

we'll be back very soon!

great experience. my girlfriend and i wanted a different place to eat prior to a concert at the electric factory. we had a great experience at bar ferdinand and would absolutely go back again. the service was excellent, beer cold and fresh (we both had the ipa) and the food really good! we ate outside, but the inside looked cool too! if you are looking for something fun, this is a great place to eat and have fun!

the sangria didn’t have enough depth of flavor. and, most of the diners seemed to be ordering the rosé wine. i should have noticed that when i walked in. the tapas the bartender recommended were a hit.

i remember first hearing about the spanish restaurant bar ferdinand in 2007. this, of course, was only a year after my semester abroad in spain and needless to say i was still obsessed with all things spanish, especially its food. however, it would take close to a decade for me to get there but i finally did this past christmas while i was visiting for the holidays, for brunch that is.

meh. went here for brunch and it was pretty terrible. the waiter took about twenty minutes to get two coffees. we could see him just leaning against the wall on his phone while we were waiting. i ordered an omelet (which should be pretty hard to mess up) but it was overlooked and lacked flavor.

great experience!. first visit here in march 2011. two of us agreed that bar ferdinand has replaced amada as our go to tapas restaurant when we're in philly. decor, food, wine and service were all excellent. prices were neither inexpensive nor expensive. i'd call it priced appropriately. we had at least 8 menu items and enjoyed them all. must try is the fried manchego cheese with frozen apple foam - everyone liked it. the duck hearts in sherry were excellent as were the lamb chops. would go back in a minute and highly recommend.

good tapas with fun atmosphere. fun bustling and pretty loud weekend dinner scene. good but not great tapas. could use better seafood selection.

the food was good but very pricey. service not great. in the summer they promote an outdoor paella, but tried several times to go there for it and they never seemed to have it. once we asked if they had it and were told yes, so we went in and were seated. when we ordered the paella for 2, we were told it was not being served. we didn't appreciate the bait & switch, so left and haven't been back.

the poor mans amada. in a good way. i've gone there twice and this place has great spanish tapas for very reasonable prices. it has a great atomosphere and has a good wine and beer menu. if your in the mood for tapas and looking to spend between $30-$40 a head this is where you need to be.

i'd "tapas" that. the best place to take out of towner friends. you can stay and munch off one another's plates, drink, laugh, talk, people watch...ps my dog likes tapas too, and bar ferd is cool with that. don't be afraid of it's cousin's reviews (el camino) - this place blows it out of the water and is a great place to nosh.

very good. very good tapas. if you like tapas and you like northern libs, bar ferdinand is great. no reservations is a pain and the fact that it is always packed is annoying but the food is great.
