banh mi saigon sandwiches & bakery

killer, cheap sandwiches. pork and tofu were awesome. all sandos are about $4 with many different options. some tea on display that i didn't have a chance to try but looked great. this place is awesome!

tofu sandwich is soggy. i want to like this place, because the staff are so nice and the price is right. the problem which prevents me from loving banh mi saigon is that the tofu sandwich is very soggy. i have ordered this sandwich twice, and both times the bottom half of the bread has been wet. i want to try banh mi saigon more time, but i will have to ask for no sauce. for this sandwich they use tomato sauce rather than mayonnaise. tofu is most likely not a popular option, but i feel as if they need to alter this recipe. the sandwich is a bit disappointing using the method they currently prepare it. just be weary of this when ordering a tofu banh mi. i think the tempeh banh mis inside g mart are much better.

great sandwiches, equally great value. these folks make a very nice, relatively inexpensive variety of vietnamese style sandwiches, prices generally running from $3 to $3.50 for a 10 inch sandwich. this is a small place with limited seating in a rather seedy strip mall, so most orders are for take out it seems. folks are friendly, service is adequate, though this is not strictly fast food - sandwiches are made to order.

there are 8 sandwiches available every day, and these are supplemented with daily specials - mostly additional sandwiches, but a plate item or two, from time to time.house made spring rolls are usually available too. most sandwiches, at least the basic 8, come with house mayo, soy sauce, cilantro, onion, cucumber, pickled daikon/carrot mixture, and jalapeno slices. these can be left off or doubled up, and so on, and other items are here like lemongrass and fish sauce. the toppings always seem to be fresh and full of flavor.

the bread is very important to the taste of the sandwiches, and they provide a freshly baked, crusty french baquette here, and it makes the sandwich - don't know if they are baked in house, but they are fresh. since the toppings are usually the same, or nearly so, the main meat or meats will dictate the overall taste of the sandwich - and as with most things, not all the items are equally good in combination.

the classic #1 includes pate, ham, and pork roll with the usual toppings, and this is just a great tatste combination - sometimes i'll get it with extra cilantro, or extra jalapenos, or both. #8 is fried pork, and it is another that i really like - nice sharp flavor in the pork, especcially good with more jalapenos. the #6, meatball, is just bland for my taste, no matter how i dress it up.

#4 is bbq, pork or beef, and is very good, especially the pork, though the beef is far from bad. i also like the chicken curry which is usually availabe. this is a yellow curry with the typical sweetness of vietnamese and thai curries, works well in the sandwich, especially with extra soy sauce and cilantro.

good food, interesting flavors and tastes here. they sometimes offer a sardine sandwich, and i bet this would be super with extra cilantro and extra onions. excellent value here, as well - and these are nice people here.

ate the #20 veggie sandwich "all the ways" and had lots of flavor and spice. good sandwiches if you're looking for something different and cheap. the owner is wonderful as well.

not sure how it received these amazing reviews. food is okay nothing out of this world to grant 4 or 5 stars. dessert was probably the best just be open to trying new things. that said i've had my fair share of vietnamese sandwiches and i couldn't say these were in my top. prices though will keep me swinging by when i need a fast, cheap, decent sandwich.

i had to give them a 3, the people there are so nice and they work so hard, and the food was pretty decent. the bread was perfect, a little messy though. i chose to get the number four with chicken, and it was delicious. i hate mayo with a burning passion, and i didn't even know they put it on there until i read the menu online and it said there's mayo on it. also, i thought i would try one of the bubble drinks, because i read good reviews on it, but i did not like it much at all. it was too sweet, it tastes fake, and they put nasty chewy, gummy candies along the bottom. i assume it's a popular vietnamese drink, but as an american from long island, i did not like it at all. in conclusion, this place is a nice, family-run business who are really friendly, and make good food at a really good price.

ask the locals where the best places to eat are and they'll direct you here. that's how i found out about this gem. prices are great, everything made to order and fresh.

if you're looking for a quick and tasty meal, banh mi is the way to go. not very well-known here in nc, so not a lot of restaurants serve this delicious sandwich, but this restaurant does it right.

outstanding and addictive! tastiest sandwiches in greensboro, hands down. they melt in your mouth and leave you wanting more.

amazing value for wonderful food. i buy as many as 20 at a time to serve to amazed and appreciative guests at parties.

delicious banh mi. these sandwiches are delicious! i love the barbecue beef the best! i think it is #4 on the menu. the chicken sandwich (#2?) is also great! sandwiches are about 10 inches long and this place has fast service.

wow!! only came b/c everyone in greensboro has eaten here and raved about it on urbanspoon. well everyone knows what they are talking about because this little simple sandwich shop has fantastic food! chicken cury sandwich with a coconut soda for $5!

fresh spring rolls are awesome!!! curry chicken sandwich was great! can't wait to go back and try each menu item!
