bamboo sushi lounge

very reasonably priced restaurant. it's clean and has a real zen feel to it. the service was great and we received our food really fast. the stir fries are also great.

went for dinner last night. the service is definitely not the greatest and the sushi has way too much rice for the amount of salmon being used.

we went out for the sushi buffet last night for my dads birthday. i read pretty awful reviews about this spot but it was mainly people complaining about the fact that there's a 10% service charge added to the bill even though they were only sitting at the conveyer belt...so? it goes into a pool and shared amongst everyone working there, who knows maybe it's also for the man slaving away to get that sushi on the belt for you all. so to all those stingy people...calm your farm. the sushi was fresh and we had a really friendly waiter. the deep fried ice cream didn't really live up the the hype i conjured in my mind but i'll definitely go back for my next sushi binge. also, thursday its r99 for ladies 😉

best western style sushi in durban, however i wish their chinese menu had more variety.

very bad experience for being a first time customer. sushi was very bad. service from the waitress was poor. no value for money. what you menu and what you get is two different things. i won't recommend them to anyone.

ladies night with the girls on thursday nights is a must go for the all you can eat sushi buffet which includes starters and desserts. 4 or more per a table gets you a free bottle of either red or white wine. take away orders are at half price. one of my fav sushi restaurants at a reasonable price.

last night caleb varathaiah and i decided to try bamboo sushi lounge. this is probably one of the most under rated sushi restaurants in durban! the sushi was amazing, the prices were great and the service was absolutely excellent. our waitress was thando and she was superb. we will definitely be returning!!

really loved this place! the sushi was great, service and everything else really good as well.
one small comment— they need to use proper japanese mayo.

my go to sushi place, in my opinion the best thus far. friendly and on the ball service, cool and very chill set up and let's not forget the amazing and fresh food.

best sushi i've had in a while. didn't stay to eat but the service was amazing, the guys that worked there engaged me on food and helped me make the best meal choice. definitely recommend.

sushi takeaway. i've had tastier sushi before. but for the price this was pretty good. and having it in the comfort of our home was even better.

had a sushi night with a couple of my friends at bamboo sushi lounge and i'll be damned if i said it wasn't one of the best sushi places around! we had the all you can eat sushi buffet; it was very reasonably priced, and ordered a bottle of white wine called angel's tears. we sat by one side of the sushi conveyer belt with the intention of trying every single menu item that passed us by. salmon roses, prawn tempura, prawn avalanche, salmon california roll, salmon fashion sandwich, sashimi and more could not escape my grasp. it was lovely fresh sushi and went down amazingly with the wine. there were some unusual sushi items as well such as a thin layer of beef on sushi rice. i tried that one by mistake and it was really good until the waiter later told us that it was not actually fish. so be careful before you grab any sushi. the waiters were very attentive and on the ball! they were constantly replacing our old plates with new ones before it had a chance to bother us. 100 points to the waiters and staff. overall it was a gorgeous sushi experience in a spotlessly clean place with awesome lime green and white decor and little elements of japanese culture. we were so full by the end of it we could barely walk to the car but hey, that's when you know it's a winner! ;) highly recommended.

upon arrival to the restaurant, this being our first time, we were quite impressed with the cleanliness, the decor and beautifully airconned room which was much appreciated in the scorching heat of february. the conveyer belt set up looked unique and comfortable to sit and we're quite pleased with this. the restaurant was dead quiet and we were in fact the only table of 3 at the restaurant. there were about 7 waiters and waitresses and one floor manager or seemed. so plenty help at hand if needed...we ordered a bottle of wine and 3 sake shooters to start the night. our waitress took our order and we sat and chatted and waited, this order took 15 minutes to arrive, upon arrival she had bought us 2 glasses and 2 shooters, strange because there were 3 of us and i specifically said 3 shooters and 3 glasses for the bottle of wine...after telling her we needed the extra shooter and wine glass, i watched the clueless waitress go off and ask some one to get the extra glass and shooter, i'm sure she could've done it her self seeing as the glasses and sake were no more than a foot away from her...she then went and waited at the pos system and we waited roughly 10 minutes before i called the manager to tell him what had happened, he only said sorry and would be sorted it. fair enough...when the clueless waitress returned she had no bought 3 extra wine glasses and 3 extra shooters, we only needed 1 glass and one shooter...this mistake i'm sure could've been avoided by her doing it herself instead of asking the other waiter/barman, not really sure what he was, to do it. then we asked for extra mayo for our sushi, the waitress asked us what mayo and we said qp mayo as that is the common and best mayo for sushi in rsa, she bought us some other snot coloured sweet excuse for mayo and thus we decided to leave...we asked for the bill and to cancel our orders. the bill apparently comes with a 10%service charge already included in your bill, we received absolutely horrendous, mindless, clueless service and now are forced to pay the charge. the bill came with now, 5 sakes charged instead of 3, and no one seemed to ask us why we were going to leave...we drove 92 kms to come to bamboo sushi lounge. what a waste of petrol, my time and money...you get better service at a home affairs branch, at least there you know the employees hate their jobs and don't give a shit, at a restaurant you'd assume they're there to provide a service and be happy to provide it, guessing the 10% service charge means they can give you any level of service and you'll have to pay anyway...never again
